Zanaco Bank Statement Download: Portal, App, Branch

6 min readOctober 27, 2026

Quick Answer: Zanaco gives you three ways to download a statement: the Self Service Portal on zanaco.co.zm (account number, NRC and a one-time code, one statement per calendar month), Internet Banking (PDF or Excel), and the Zanaco Mobile app. For a stamped or signed statement for an embassy or lender, go to a branch.

Most Zanaco customers can download a statement without visiting a branch. The quickest route for an occasional request is the Self Service Portal, which needs only your account number, your National Registration Card number and a code sent to your registered phone or email. Regular users are better served by Internet Banking or the Zanaco Mobile app, which have no monthly cap.

Which Zanaco channel should you use?

Zambia National Commercial Bank publishes several digital entry points on its home page: Internet Banking, a Self Service Portal, a KYC portal for updating personal information, and the Zanaco Mobile app on the App Store and Google Play. Each suits a different situation.

Fees for statements, where they apply, are in Zanaco's Retail, Business and Digital Banking tariff guides, which the bank links from its site footer. Those figures change, so read the current guide rather than relying on a number you saw elsewhere.

How do you download a statement from the Zanaco Self Service Portal?

The portal lives at zanaco.co.zm/selfserviceportal and is described by the bank as "fast, secure account statement access". It works in three stages.

  1. Confirm identity. Enter the account number you want a statement for, choose your ID type (the portal offers the National Registration Card) and type your NRC number in the format the page shows: six digits, two digits, one digit.
  2. Verify with OTP. Select Send verification code. A six-digit code goes to the mobile number or email address registered on the account. The page shows a five-minute countdown, so have your phone ready before you request it.
  3. Generate statement. Once the code is accepted you reach the statement page, where you choose the date range you need and produce the document.

The note on the portal is the detail most people miss: it allows one statement per calendar month, and for more it sends you to Zanaco Mobile, Internet Banking or a branch. Pick the widest date range you will need before you generate, because you cannot run a second request in the same month from this route.

If the code never arrives, the problem is almost always that the phone number or email on file is old. Zanaco runs a separate KYC portal for personal information; updating details there, or at a branch, has to happen before the portal can reach you.

Downloading from Zanaco Internet Banking

Zanaco's electronic banking page lists what its Internet Banking facility does, and statements are on that list: you can "view and download detailed account statements with the option to save in PDF or excel." Access is protected by a one-time PIN as well as your password.

Choose the format by what happens next:

  • PDF if the statement is going to someone else: a landlord, a scholarship office, an employer or an embassy. A PDF keeps the bank's layout and is harder to alter, which is what reviewers expect.
  • Excel if you are the one doing the work: budgeting, checking for duplicated charges, or giving an accountant rows to categorize.

The business banking page describes Internet Banking for business accounts; retail customers log in through the same Internet Banking link on the home page. If your login has lapsed, the call centre can help you reset it.

Using the Zanaco Mobile app

The Zanaco Mobile app is linked from every page of the bank's site. Zanaco's public pages do not walk through the app's statement screens step by step, so look for the account you want, then its statements or transaction history option. If you cannot find a statement download in your version of the app, Internet Banking or the portal will do the same job.

Getting a stamped statement for an embassy or lender

A downloaded PDF is a genuine bank document, but some visa sections and lenders ask for more: a statement bearing the bank's stamp, an officer's signature, or both. Zanaco's portal and online channels do not describe adding a stamp, so this is a branch request.

Before you go, read the receiving office's requirements and bring a written note of what they want, because "a bank statement" can mean different things:

  • Period covered. Many visa checklists ask for three or six recent months. Ask for exactly that range so the clerk does not print a single month.
  • Stamp and signature on every page or only on the last page. Some offices reject statements where only the cover page is stamped.
  • Account holder details. Your full name as it appears on your passport, and the account number.
  • Currency. If you hold kwacha and US dollar accounts, ask for the account whose balance you are relying on.
  • A balance confirmation letter, if the embassy wants a single figure rather than a transaction history. That is a separate document from a statement; our guide to the bank balance certificate for a visa explains what it should say.

Our longer checklist on bank statements for a visa application covers what consular officers look at in the transactions themselves, such as unexplained large deposits shortly before the application.

What if you need the transactions in a spreadsheet?

If Internet Banking gives you the Excel version, use it; it comes straight from the bank's system. The portal and branch copies arrive as PDFs or paper, which is awkward when you want to total a category or reconcile against your own records.

For PDFs, you have a few options. Excel's Get Data from PDF feature can pull tables out of a clean, bank-generated file, though statements that wrap descriptions across lines often need tidying afterwards. QuickBankConvert is another route: upload the Zanaco PDF and it returns one row per transaction with date, description, amount and running balance, as CSV or Excel. The file is uploaded and processed on our servers, scans read less reliably than downloaded PDFs, and a free account covers a few statements a month; see pricing for the larger plans. The PDF to Excel page shows what the output looks like.

Whichever tool you use, check the result against the statement's opening and closing balances before relying on it.

Common snags

"I already used the portal this month." The portal's one-statement rule is per calendar month. Use Internet Banking or the app, or wait until the next month.

The statement does not show the period I need. Re-check the date range before generating. For older history that the digital channels do not return, a branch can tell you what it is able to print.

The NRC format is rejected. Enter it in the six/two/one digit grouping the form shows, and make sure the NRC matches the one Zanaco holds for that account.

I need help now. Zanaco lists its call centre as 5000 from all networks, open 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Saturday, 07:00 to 16:00 on Sunday and 08:00 to 14:00 on public holidays. Its WhatsApp assistant, Coco, is available around the clock, and complaints can be logged through the customer service portal.

If the statement is a recent one you need to prove your current position, our note on getting a current bank statement explains what reviewers usually mean by "current".

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a Zanaco statement without Internet Banking?

Yes. Zanaco's Self Service Portal lets you generate a statement with your account number, your NRC details and a one-time code sent to your registered phone or email. It allows one statement per calendar month.

Why did I not receive the Zanaco verification code?

The code goes to the mobile number or email address Zanaco already holds for the account. If those details are out of date, update them through Zanaco's KYC portal or a branch before trying again, and note the code expires after five minutes.

Can Zanaco Internet Banking export a statement to Excel?

Zanaco's electronic banking page says Internet Banking lets you view and download detailed account statements as PDF or Excel. Use the Excel option when you plan to sort or total the transactions.

Will an embassy accept a statement I downloaded myself?

Some do and some want the bank's stamp or signature. Check the embassy's document list first; if it asks for a stamped or certified statement, request it from your Zanaco branch.

What is the Zanaco call centre number?

Zanaco lists 5000, reachable from all networks, with hours of 07:00 to 19:00 Monday to Saturday, 07:00 to 16:00 on Sunday and 08:00 to 14:00 on public holidays.
