Convert a Truist statement to Excel or CSV
6 min read
Quick answer
Truist keeps statements in online banking under Documents: up to 7 years for deposit accounts and up to 2 years for credit cards. Sign in, open Documents, download the statement, upload the PDF to QuickBankConvert, check the rows in the preview, and download CSV or Excel with a free account. You never share your Truist sign-in.

How to download a Truist statement
Truist publishes one step list for this, on its page Mortgage statements (read on 4 October 2026). It says you can view and download all your statements by signing in to your account, and gives these steps:
- Sign in to your account in the mobile app or at truist.com/signin.
- Select Documents. In the app, select More at the bottom to see the Documents tab.
- Select Accounts, and then select the account. Truist's example is a mortgage loan.
That page is written for mortgages, and its last step leads to tax forms. For checking, savings and credit card accounts, Truist's Truist One Checking setup page (read on 4 October 2026) points to the same place: it says statement availability for each product can be found in Truist Online Banking in "Documents". We did not find a Truist page that lists the clicks inside Documents for a checking account, so they are not listed here. If your screen differs, the two Truist pages above are the current reference.
The Truist pages we read say statements can be viewed and downloaded. They do not name the file format. The converter takes a PDF, so save the statement as a PDF. Online banking on a computer is simpler than the app for this: the file is saved where you will upload it from.
How far back Truist statements go
Truist states the retention per product in a disclosure on the same checking page:
| Product | Paperless statements available |
|---|---|
| Deposit and brokerage accounts | Up to 7 years |
| Credit cards | Up to 2 years |
| Home equity lines of credit, personal loans and auto loans | Up to 24 months |
| Mortgage and trust accounts | Up to 18 months |
Truist words this as the time paperless statements are available to view and download, and says the period for your specific product is shown in Documents.
This matters when planning a catch-up. Credit card statements drop off years before checking statements, so if you need both for the same period, save the card statements first. A statement that has aged out of online banking has to be requested from the bank; once you have it as a PDF, it converts the same way.
On paper statements, Truist's Truist One Checking Account Overview (read on 4 October 2026) lists no charge for a paper statement or a paperless online statement on that account. Other Truist accounts have their own fee schedules, which we did not read. A scanned paper statement converts less accurately than the PDF from online banking, so use the online copy when it exists.
How to convert it
- Upload the PDF to the converter.
- Check the preview against the statement: first row, last row and closing balance.
- Download CSV or Excel for a spreadsheet. For accounting software, see the QuickBooks guide or the Xero guide.
Each monthly statement is one upload. For several years of history, Pro's batch upload takes a set of PDFs and converts them three at a time.
Checking, savings and credit cards
All three convert through the same steps. Two things differ for a credit card statement:
- Signs. Purchases come out as negative amounts and payments or credits as positive. Confirm that on the first few rows, because accounting software can expect the opposite for a liability account.
- The QBO and QIF exports label the account as a bank account. You choose the real account when importing; details are on the PDF to QBO page. For a spreadsheet this does not matter, and there is a separate guide for credit card statements to Excel.
What comes out
One row per transaction with date, description, category, amount and balance (the balance only when the statement prints a running balance). Amounts are signed: money out is negative. The account number, statement period and opening and closing balances are read from the statement and shown above the preview so you can check them.
| Download | Plan |
|---|---|
| On-screen preview only | No account: one statement every 24 hours, up to 5 pages |
| CSV, Excel | Free account: 3 statements a month, up to 10 pages each |
| QBO, QIF, Xero CSV, TSV, JSON | Plus, $29 a month: 50 statements a month, up to 50 pages each |
| The Plus formats, with batch upload and client labels | Pro, $59 a month: 200 statements a month, up to 100 pages each |
| The same as Pro | Business, $99 a month: 600 statements a month, up to 100 pages each |
A statement longer than your plan's page limit is turned away before it is converted, so it does not use up a conversion. Files can be up to 4.4 MB. Current plans are on the pricing page.
What to check, and what can go wrong
- Compare the totals. Before downloading, check the first and last rows and the closing balance against the PDF. We do not publish accuracy figures for Truist or any other bank; the preview is there so you can verify the result yourself.
- Use the PDF the bank generates. A scan or a phone photo of a paper statement is an image, and it is read less accurately than a PDF downloaded from online banking.
- Password-protected PDFs are supported: you are asked for the password when you upload.
- Your file is uploaded. It travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, is parsed on our servers, and a copy is stored. Ask us to delete it through the contact page. We never ask for your Truist login. See the Privacy Policy.
- Combined statements. Truist's account overview says Truist One Checking statements are provided monthly and may be combined with other deposit accounts. If one PDF covers more than one account, the result is a single list of transactions. Split the rows by account in the spreadsheet.

Yes. It converts the same way as a checking statement. Purchases come out as negative amounts and payments as positive; check the signs on the first rows before importing into accounting software.

No. You download the statement PDF yourself and upload only that file. Nothing connects to your Truist account.
What does it cost?
Previewing needs no account (one statement every 24 hours, up to 5 pages). CSV and Excel downloads are free with a free account: 3 statements a month, up to 10 pages each. Plus ($29 a month) allows 50 statements a month of up to 50 pages and adds QBO, QIF, Xero CSV, TSV and JSON.
