Convert a Mercury bank statement PDF to Excel or CSV

5 min read

Quick answer

If you can log in to Mercury, its own Transactions export (CSV or .xlsx) is usually the quickest way to get spreadsheet rows. If what you have is the Mercury statement PDF, for example a bookkeeper or accountant who was sent statements by a client, upload it to QuickBankConvert, check the transactions in the preview, and download them as CSV or Excel with a free account. No Mercury login is shared: you upload only the statement file.

How to download a Mercury statement PDF

From Mercury's help article Downloading monthly statements (read on 26 October 2026):

On the Mercury dashboard

  1. Click your org name in the top left-hand corner of the dashboard and select Documents & Data. You can also open a specific account page and click View Statements.
  2. Select an account from the dropdown to see all of its statements for the year.
  3. Hover over or select the monthly statement you want. Select several if needed, and click Download.

The same screen lets you share the selected statements with someone by email instead of downloading them, which is handy when an accountant needs them.

According to the same article, Mercury generates monthly statements for each account between the 1st and 3rd of each month. Each statement includes the account and routing numbers for the selected account and all transaction activity for the stated date range. An account opened after the 1st has no statement until the following month; for the current month, click Generate a custom statement, which covers a narrower date range within the month.

Mercury describes itself as a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank: its banking services are provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC. The statement you download comes from Mercury's dashboard either way.

Mercury already exports CSV: when you still need the PDF

Mercury is unusual among the banks we cover in that it offers spreadsheet exports itself. Its help article Bulk-export statements, receipts, and CSVs from Mercury Business (read on 26 October 2026) describes two routes on the web dashboard:

  • Monthly transaction data. On the Documents & Data page, in the Statements tab, select the account, click the vertical dots on the far right of a statement row and choose QuickBooks CSV or NetSuite CSV.
  • Filtered transaction data. On the Transactions page, click Export all, or apply filters and click Export filtered, then choose .csv or .xlsx and click Download.

Mercury also offers direct connections to QuickBooks and NetSuite. If you have the login and one of those routes gives you what you need, use it: it comes straight from Mercury's records.

The PDF statement is still what many people actually have:

  • You are the bookkeeper or accountant, not the account holder. Clients often send the monthly statement PDFs and nothing else, and asking for dashboard access or a fresh export takes time.
  • You need Xero, QIF or another format Mercury's statement menu does not offer, or one consistent layout across a client's Mercury and non-Mercury accounts.
  • The statements are an archive. Year-end files, a loan or due-diligence pack, or a folder of PDFs saved months ago may be the record you have to work from.

How to convert it

  1. Upload the PDF to the converter.
  2. Check the preview against the statement, including the first and last transactions and the closing balance.
  3. Download CSV or Excel. If the rows are going into accounting software, see the QuickBooks guide or Xero guide, or the PDF to QBO guide.

Why people convert Mercury statements

  • Bookkeeping catch-up. A startup that has not reconciled for months can be brought up to date from statement PDFs, a month at a time, into QuickBooks or Xero. See QuickBankConvert for bookkeepers for working across several clients.
  • Taxes and year-end. Sorting a year of business deposits and expenses for a return or for an accountant is practical in a spreadsheet and slow in twelve PDFs.
  • Investor and lender reporting. A spreadsheet lets you total burn, revenue or spend by vendor. Keep the original PDFs too: anyone who asks for statements wants Mercury's own document, not a converted file.

What comes out

One row per transaction with date, description, category, amount and balance (the balance only when the statement prints a running balance). Amounts are signed: money out is negative. The account number, statement period and opening and closing balances are read from the statement and shown above the preview so you can check them.

A statement longer than your plan's page limit is turned away before it is converted, so it does not use up a conversion. Files can be up to 4.4 MB. Current plans are on the pricing page.

What to check, and what can go wrong

  • Compare the totals. Before downloading, check the first and last rows and the closing balance against the PDF. We do not publish accuracy figures for Mercury or any other bank; the preview is there so you can verify the result yourself.
  • Use the PDF the bank generates. A scan or a phone photo of a paper statement is an image, and it is read less accurately than a PDF downloaded from online banking.
  • Password-protected PDFs are supported: you are asked for the password when you upload.
  • Your file is uploaded. It travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, is parsed on our servers, and a copy is stored. Ask us to delete it through the contact page. We never ask for your Mercury login. See the Privacy Policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I download a Mercury bank statement PDF?

On the Mercury dashboard, click your org name at the top left and select Documents & Data (or open an account page and click View Statements), choose the account from the dropdown, select the monthly statement and click Download. These steps are from Mercury's help article, read on 26 October 2026.

Can I export Mercury transactions to CSV or Excel without converting a PDF?

Yes, if you can log in. Mercury's help article describes exporting from the Transactions page as .csv or .xlsx, and downloading a QuickBooks CSV or NetSuite CSV from a statement row on the Documents & Data page. Converting the PDF is for when the statement is what you have, for example as an accountant who was sent PDFs.

When are Mercury statements available?

Mercury says monthly statements are generated for each account between the 1st and 3rd of each month. For the current month, you can click Generate a custom statement to get a narrower date range.

Can I convert a Mercury statement to QBO for QuickBooks?

Yes, on a paid plan: upload the PDF, check the preview and download QBO. Mercury's own QuickBooks CSV export is another option if you have access to the dashboard.

Do I need to give you my Mercury login?

No. You download the statement yourself and upload only the PDF. Nothing connects to your Mercury account.

What does it cost?

Previewing needs no account (one statement every 24 hours, up to 10 pages). CSV and Excel downloads are free with a free account: 3 statements a month, up to 10 pages each. Plus ($29 a month), Pro ($59 a month) and Business ($99 a month) allow 50, 200 and 600 statements a month, raise the page limit to 50 pages on Plus and 100 on Pro and Business, and add accounting formats.
