Citi Credit Card Statement Download: PDF and Activity
Quick Answer: Sign in at citi.com, open the card, and go to its statements section to download any recent statement as a PDF. Citi says the past 12 months are available to view and download immediately, and statements stay accessible online for up to 7 years; older ones can be requested and take a couple of days. For a spreadsheet of recent purchases, use the download option on the card's activity list instead.
To download a Citi credit card statement, sign in to your account on citi.com, select the card, open Statements, choose the statement period and save the PDF. Citi keeps the last 12 months ready to download and keeps statements accessible for up to seven years. Card activity, as opposed to the formal statement, can be exported separately for recent transactions.

Statements versus activity: two different downloads
People often mean one of two things when they search for a Citi statement download, and Citi keeps them in different places.
| Statement PDF | Activity export | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The official monthly document, with closing date, new balance, minimum payment, interest and fees | A list of posted (and sometimes pending) transactions for a date range you pick |
| Where it lives | The card's Statements section | The card's transaction/activity list |
| File type | PDF (Citi also lists Quicken and Microsoft Money formats for recent statements) | Spreadsheet-friendly files such as CSV, depending on the account |
| How far back | 12 months immediately; up to 7 years online | Recent months only |
| Who asks for it | Lenders, landlords, tax preparers, auditors, visa offices | You, for budgeting or bookkeeping |
If someone needs proof, send the PDF. If you need numbers to sort and total, start with the activity export and fall back to the PDF when the months you want are older than the export allows.
How do you download a Citi credit card statement online?
Citi's own paperless statements page states that you can "immediately view and download statements from the past 12 months in formats that include PDF, Quicken and Microsoft Money," and that you can keep accessing them online for up to 7 years (Citi paperless statements).
On the desktop site the sequence is:
- Sign in at citi.com and pick the credit card from your accounts.
- Open the card's Statements area (Citi's older help sheet calls the link "Statements (PDF)").
- Choose the statement date from the dropdown.
- Pick the format. Choose PDF unless you specifically need a Quicken file.
- Select Download and save the file.
Citi's step-by-step sheet notes that the PDF is delivered through a pop-up, so if nothing happens after you click download, allow pop-ups for the Citi site and try again. Citi's mobile app also shows statements and is fine for viewing one, but the desktop site is easier when you need to save a year of them in one sitting.
Name each file by card and closing date as you save it, for example citi-1234-2026-09.pdf. Citi's default file names are not always descriptive, and twelve files with near-identical names are a nuisance at tax time.
How far back can you get Citi statements?
Three tiers, according to Citi's own material:
- Last 12 months: available to download right away.
- Older, up to about 7 years: still accessible online. Citi's guide to requesting previous statements describes an "Older Statements" section where you pick the year and month and select Request. The request shows as "Processing Request" and Citi says it may take 48 to 72 hours to fulfill.
- Ready requests: once a request shows "Ready for Download," retrieve it. Citi warns that requested older statements are only available for 7 days, so save them as soon as they appear.
The same sheet notes that only statements issued after the card was registered for online access are immediately available. If you opened online access recently, earlier months go through the request route even if they fall inside the 12-month window.
Beyond the online window, call the number on the back of the card and ask for copies. Expect a wait, and possibly paper.
Exporting recent Citi card activity
For transaction lists rather than statements, open the card's activity, set the date range, and look for the download control on the transaction list. The formats offered depend on the account; CSV is the one that opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets. Labels on Citi's site change from time to time, so if you can't find the control, Citi's help pages on citi.com are the authority.
Two caveats with activity exports:
- They cover recent months only. Anything older means working from statement PDFs.
- They are not statement-shaped. Interest, fees and payments appear as ordinary lines, and there is no opening or closing balance to check against. If you need to tie a period to a statement total, use the statement.
Scenarios: which download do you need?
A mortgage lender wants your last three card statements. Download the three PDFs from the Statements section. Don't send an activity export; underwriters want the issuer's document with the account details on it.
Your accountant wants every 2025 card purchase for a Schedule C. The year is probably partly inside the 12-month window and partly outside it. Download the PDFs you can, request the older ones, and then turn the PDFs into a spreadsheet. The Citi Double Cash statement to Excel guide covers the layout of Citi card statements in detail. QuickBankConvert can read those PDFs and return one row per purchase, payment and fee with a signed amount; a free account downloads the result as CSV or Excel.
You are moving your books into QuickBooks and need two years of card history. The activity export won't reach that far. Collect the statement PDFs, convert them, and import the rows. The credit card import guide explains how charges and payments should be signed, and the Citibank bank page shows what QuickBankConvert extracts from Citi statements, including the statement period and balances above the transaction rows.
You want to check a disputed charge. The activity list on the website is quicker than a statement and shows the merchant description Citi received.
Opening and checking the PDF
Citi card statement PDFs are generated by the bank, so their text is selectable and searchable. That makes them easy to search with Ctrl+F for a merchant and easy for conversion tools to read. A few things to check once a file is saved:
- The closing date on page one matches the month you meant to download.
- The page count looks complete. A statement with heavy activity runs several pages, with the interest section and year-to-date totals of fees and interest toward the end.
- If you share it, remember it contains your full name, address and the last digits of the account. Send it through the recipient's secure upload where one exists rather than ordinary email.
If you plan to analyze spending across a year, the credit card statement to Excel page describes the spreadsheet you get from a card statement, and the guide to reconciling card statements in Excel shows how to match those rows against receipts.
When the download fails
- Nothing opens after clicking Download: pop-ups are blocked for the Citi site.
- The month you want isn't in the dropdown: it is older than the immediate window or predates your online registration; use the Older Statements request.
- A requested statement vanished: the 7-day retrieval window passed. Request it again.
- The PDF is blank or won't open: save it to disk first and open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF reader instead of the website's viewer.
