Bank Statement of Punjab National Bank: All the Ways

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: To get a bank statement of Punjab National Bank (PNB), log in to PNB Internet Banking and use Statement of a/c, or register for monthly email statements under Other Services โ†’ Service Requests โ†’ New Requests โ†’ Email Statement Registration. PNB also sends an Account Statement through WhatsApp on +91-9264092640 from your registered mobile. For a printed copy, your branch issues duplicates.

Punjab National Bank offers statements through internet banking, a free monthly email statement you can register for in four ways, and its WhatsApp service, which lists Account Statement among its options. SMS banking returns a mini statement, the missed-call service returns only your balance, and a passbook can be updated at the branch. Once you switch to email statements, PNB stops posting paper ones.

The ways PNB gives you a statement

PNB spreads its statement services across several channels, each documented on its own page at pnb.bank.in. Here's what each returns:

ChannelWhat PNB says you getWhat you need
Retail Internet BankingStatement of a/c and Transaction HistoryInternet banking login
Email statement (E-Statement)Monthly statement to your registered emailOne-time registration
WhatsApp, +91-9264092640Account Statement, Account Summary, Last 5 TransactionsMobile number registered with PNB

If a visa office, landlord or lender wants a statement, use internet banking or the email statement. A mini statement or a WhatsApp message listing five transactions is useful for a quick check but isn't a statement.

How do you download a statement in PNB Internet Banking?

PNB's Retail Internet Banking page (read on 26 October 2026) lists Statement of a/c and Transaction History among its non-financial services, along with account details, AQB/AMB (average quarterly or monthly balance), account-wise TDS details and e-interest certificates for deposit, education and housing loan accounts. PNB's page doesn't spell out the menu clicks for the statement itself, so log in, open Statement of a/c and follow the date-range screens.

Two of those other services are often what people actually need:

  • E-interest certificates for deposits, education loans and housing loans, which an accountant usually wants at tax time rather than a full statement.
  • Account-wise TDS details, for checking tax deducted on interest.

The same internet banking site holds the Email Statement Registration request, covered next.

How do you register for PNB email statements?

PNB's E-Statement page (read on 26 October 2026) gives four ways to register:

  1. Internet banking: log in, click Other Services โ†’ Service Requests โ†’ New Requests โ†’ Email Statement Registration.
  2. Branch: ask at your nearest branch.
  3. Contact centre: call 1800 1800 or 1800 2021.
  4. SMS: from your registered mobile number, send ESTMT <last 4 digits of account number> <email ID> to 9264092640 or 5607040.

What PNB says about the service:

  • Current, savings, OD and CC account customers can all register.
  • Statements arrive monthly on your registered email.
  • The service is free.
  • Once you register for email statements, physical statements are discontinued. You can still ask your branch for duplicate statements.

That last point is worth thinking about before you register. If you're used to a monthly paper statement arriving by post, it will stop, so make sure the email address is one you check and won't lose access to.

Can you get a PNB statement on WhatsApp?

Yes. PNB's WhatsApp Banking page (read on 26 October 2026) lists Account Statement among its account services, alongside Account Summary, Balance Inquiry, Last 5 Transactions, Update Email ID and Register e-statement.

To start, add +91-9264092640 to your contacts and send "Hi" or "Hello" from your registered mobile number, or use the link or QR code on PNB's page. Before you share anything, check for the green tick beside Punjab National Bank's name; PNB says that's how you confirm the account is genuine.

PNB's eligibility rules for WhatsApp banking:

  • You must be registered as an individual or sole proprietor.
  • Your WhatsApp number must be the one registered with the bank.
  • Accounts with modes of operation such as Self, Either or Survivor, Former or Survivor, or Anyone can be viewed; services like cheque book requests follow the account's mode of operation.
  • PNB currently accepts mobile numbers from India, the USA, the UK, the UAE, Canada and the Philippines.

The WhatsApp menu also offers an Interest Certificate, PPF and Sukanya Samriddhi balances, and downloads of Form 16A, 15G and 15H. For demat holders, it lists a Statement of holding and a Statement of Transaction.

Mini statements by SMS, and why the missed call won't help

PNB's SMS banking page (read on 26 October 2026) gives the keyword for a mini statement: send MINSTMT <account number> to 92640 92640 or 5607040. Balance is BAL <account number>. Your mobile number has to be registered through the branch.

The missed-call service is narrower than people expect. PNB's missed-call page says a missed call to 1800 180 2223 (or the tolled number 0120-2303090) returns your last clear balance by SMS, not transactions. It's available for savings and current accounts only, and PNB asks for a gap of at least 45 minutes between two queries from the same number.

Passbook updates

If you keep a PNB passbook, it's updated at the branch. PNB's site also lists Passbook Updation Machine (PUM) locations in its branch locator, which suggests self-service printing is available at some branches; check the locator for one near you. PNB's FAQ covers what to do if a passbook is lost.

A passbook is usually accepted as a record of transactions, but organisations abroad tend to ask for a statement on letterhead or a PDF statement instead. If you're not sure which a visa office wants, get the statement.

Is the PNB e-statement PDF password protected?

PNB's E-Statement page doesn't say whether the emailed statement is password protected or what the password format would be, and we won't guess at one. If a PNB statement PDF asks for a password, look at the email it arrived with for instructions, or ask PNB's contact centre on 1800 1800 or 1800 2021. Don't try combinations of personal details on a document you've forwarded to someone else.

Converting a PNB statement to Excel

PNB statements arrive as PDFs. To work with the transactions in a spreadsheet, try Excel's Get Data from PDF on an unlocked file, or use a converter. QuickBankConvert reads statement PDFs into rows with date, description, category, signed amount and balance, and accepts password-protected PDFs by asking for the password on upload. It handles statements from Indian banks as from anywhere else, though we haven't specifically tested PNB's layout, so check the closing balance against the PDF. Free accounts download CSV and Excel; pricing lists larger plans. Our guide to password-protected bank statement PDFs covers unlocking, and PDF to Excel shows the output.
