SBI Bank Statement: Download via YONO, INB or SMS

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: You can get a State Bank of India (SBI) statement four ways: in internet banking under Enquiry โ†’ statement of account, by managing e-statements in YONO SBI, by sending an ESTMT SMS that emails a password-protected PDF covering the last 6 months of a savings account, or as a 5-transaction mini statement by missed call. For older periods, ask your home branch.

The quickest State Bank of India statement for most people is the SBI Quick SMS: text ESTMT, your account number and a four-digit code of your choice, and SBI emails the last six months of your savings account as a PDF locked with that code. Internet banking and YONO SBI show statements online, mini statements come by missed call, and branches handle older periods.

Which SBI statement do you need?

SBI has several overlapping services, and they produce different things:

RouteWhat you getPeriodDelivered to
SBI Quick SMS ESTMTPassword-protected PDF statementLast 6 months, savings accountRegistered email
Internet banking (onlinesbi)Statement of account on screen and as a downloadSBI's FAQ says six months of data on the webYour device

For a visa, loan or tax filing, you want a full PDF statement, not a mini statement or a screenshot of the m-Passbook. For a quick check of whether a salary credit arrived, the mini statement is enough.

How do you get a 6-month SBI statement by SMS?

This is SBI's most distinctive option and the one behind searches for a "6 months bank statement SBI PDF". SBI's SBI Quick โ€“ Missed Call Banking page (read on 26 October 2026) describes it.

Step 1: register once. From the mobile number recorded on the account, send REG <account number> to 07208933148 (SBI's example: REG 12345678901). You'll get an SMS confirming whether registration worked. If it fails, check the format and the destination number, and make sure your mobile number is updated with the bank; if it isn't, the branch has to update it.

Step 2: request the statement. Send ESTMT <account number> <code> to 917208933145, with spaces between each part.

The code is any four-digit number you choose. SBI uses it to encrypt the PDF attachment it emails to your registered address. That means the password for this statement isn't your date of birth or any bank-set format: it's whatever four digits you typed in the SMS. Write them down before you send.

SBI says this covers the last 6 months of a savings bank account. The same page lists similar SMS requests for an Education Loan Interest Certificate (ELI <account number> <code>) and a Home Loan Interest Certificate, also emailed as PDFs locked with your chosen code.

You don't need a login ID or password for SBI Quick, only the one-time registration from your registered mobile. SBI's page notes a missed call is free; if you stay on for the 3-second IVR message after a few rings, your mobile plan may charge for those seconds.

Downloading a statement in SBI internet banking

SBI's internet banking FAQ (read on 26 October 2026) answers "I want to download Statement of my account" briefly: go to Enquiry and the statement of account option, and it adds that you can only view six months of data on the web. SBI's FAQ page doesn't give more detailed menu steps, so follow the screens after selecting your account and period.

Two things that FAQ makes clear about what internet banking can and can't do:

  • Transaction rights come from your branch. If you can view but not transact, SBI says your branch hasn't given you transaction rights, and you ask the branch to grant them.
  • Some PPF accounts aren't online. If a PPF account you've "defined" still isn't visible, SBI says those are accounts at branches where PPF isn't on the bank master; you can't view them online and need to contact the branch.

For periods longer than the online window, or for a PPF account that isn't online, the branch is the route.

YONO SBI and e-statements

SBI's YONO account services page lists Manage e-statements among the things you can do in YONO SBI, alongside activating SMS alerts, managing a PPF nominee and changing your home branch. Use it to switch on or change e-statement delivery to your registered email.

SBI's e-Statement FAQ (read on 26 October 2026) explains how those e-statements work:

  • An e-statement is a periodic record, quarterly or monthly, of all your transactions.
  • The service is free.
  • It arrives by email, so you print or save it from your inbox.
  • To change the email address it goes to, log in to internet banking, open Profile, and change your email address.

If e-statements aren't arriving, check the email on your profile first; an old address is the usual reason.

Mini statements and the m-Passbook

Mini statement by missed call or SMS. After registering for SBI Quick, give a missed call or send MSTMT to 919223766666 to receive the last 5 transactions by SMS. Balance is BAL to the same number. The app version, SBI Quick, has these in its pre-login section and works over SMS without an internet connection.

m-Passbook. SBI's m-Passbook page (read on 26 October 2026) describes it as an electronic passbook inside SBI YONO Lite. You sync transactions manually whenever you like, and they're stored on your device, so you can look back without contacting SBI's servers each time. It's free for retail internet banking users.

Paper passbook. The printed passbook remains valid; SBI's PPF FAQ, for example, asks for the original passbook or statement of account when transferring or claiming a PPF account. To bring a paper passbook up to date, take it to your branch.

Is there a charge for an SBI statement?

E-statements by email are free, according to SBI's e-Statement FAQ, and SBI Quick SMS requests carry only your normal SMS cost. For duplicate statements or passbooks issued at a branch, SBI publishes its fees on its Revised Service Charges page; check the current schedule there before visiting, because the charges are revised periodically.

Opening and converting the PDF

The ESTMT PDF is encrypted with your four-digit code, so you'll need it every time you open the file, and again if you upload it to any tool. If you've forgotten the code, the simplest fix is to send a new ESTMT request with a new code.

To turn the statement into a spreadsheet, you can try Excel's Get Data from PDF after removing the password, or use a converter. QuickBankConvert accepts password-protected PDFs and asks for the password on upload, then returns rows with date, description, category, signed amount and balance. It works on statements from Indian banks as from anywhere else, though we haven't specifically tested SBI's layout, so compare the closing balance. Our guide on password-protected statement PDFs covers the unlocking step, and pricing lists plan limits.
