BMO RRSP Statement: InvestorLine eDocuments and Receipts

6 min readOctober 29, 2026

Quick Answer: For a BMO InvestorLine RRSP, sign in, then go to Documents โ†’ eDocuments below your account summary. Monthly statements are there, and RRSP contribution receipts are under Tax Documents, sorted by year. BMO's 2026 schedule put receipts for 2025 contributions online the week of January 12, and receipts for first-60-days contributions from the week of January 26, weekly thereafter. eDocuments aren't in the BMO Invest App.

A BMO RRSP statement and an RRSP contribution receipt are two different documents in the same place. In BMO InvestorLine, both sit in eDocuments: statements arrive about eight business days after each month ends, and contribution receipts post in January and then weekly through the first 60 days of the year. The receipt is what supports your RRSP deduction on your tax return.

Statement or contribution receipt: which one do you need?

People searching for a "BMO RRSP statement" usually want one of four things:

DocumentWhat it showsWhen BMO InvestorLine posts it
Monthly or quarterly account statementBalance, holdings, transactions, income, fees, beneficiariesAbout 8 business days after month end
RRSP contribution receipt (calendar year)Contributions from January 1 to December 31Week of January 12, 2026 for 2025 contributions
RRSP contribution receipt (first 60 days)Contributions from early in the new year, claimable for the prior yearWeek of January 26, 2026, then weekly
T4RSPWithdrawals from the RRSP, which count as incomeWeek of February 23, 2026

The dates come from BMO InvestorLine's Tax Information Hub (read on 28 October 2026). BMO says its schedule may change, so check it each January.

If you're preparing your return, you want the receipts. If a lender, a financial planner or an estate lawyer asked for proof of what's in the account, you want the account statement. For the chequing and savings side of BMO, see our BMO bank statement guide instead.

Where are BMO InvestorLine RRSP statements?

BMO's InvestorLine Self-Directed FAQ (read on 28 October 2026) gives the path: sign in to BMO InvestorLine and select Documents โ†’ eDocuments below your account summary. You're redirected to the original InvestorLine site, where monthly statements, trade confirmations and tax documents are listed.

A few details from the same FAQ:

  • Timing: statements can be viewed about 8 business days after the end of each month.
  • Frequency: you get a monthly statement when there is activity. If no transactions were performed, you get a quarterly statement instead.
  • Contents: the account balance, investment holdings, transaction activity, income earned, fees and changes in value, plus asset allocation and each holding's quantity, book cost and market value.
  • Beneficiaries: for an RRSP, the second page lists them under "Individuals related to this account". A change made today shows on the next statement cycle, not the current one.

BMO SmartFolio, the managed portfolio service, uses the same idea: its FAQ says online statements and tax slips are in your eDocuments.

How do you download a BMO RRSP contribution receipt?

The InvestorLine FAQ's tax section lists the steps:

  1. On your Accounts page in BMO InvestorLine, select Documents, then eDocuments.
  2. Select Tax Documents.
  3. Choose the year from the dropdown.
  4. Select the slip you want and download it.

Four things trip people up:

  • No app access. BMO says eDocuments are not currently available in the BMO Invest App. Use a browser.
  • No alert. BMO says you won't be notified when a slip becomes available, so check back after the scheduled week. If it hasn't appeared by the end of that week, BMO asks you to contact it.
  • Delivery preference. If you chose "online only", tax documents appear only in eDocuments. With "online and by mail", they're mailed too. You change this under Account Service โ†’ Settings.
  • Prior years. Pick the earlier year in the dropdown. You'll only see years in which the account was open with InvestorLine.

BMO's 2025 Tax Documents Overview and Schedule (dated January 2026) describes the receipts as covering contributions made during calendar 2025 and, separately, contributions made during the first 60 days of 2026. So if you contributed in both periods, expect at least two receipts.

What if your RRSP isn't with InvestorLine?

BMO's RRSP page (read on 28 October 2026) describes three ways to open one: an RRSP Savings Account opened in minutes through BMO Online Banking, an account with an investment professional at a branch or by appointment, or an InvestorLine Self-Directed RRSP online. The same page lists GICs, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs and stocks as holdings, with different ones available through a professional, Self-Directed, adviceDirect or SmartFolio.

The eDocuments steps above are for InvestorLine (and SmartFolio). An RRSP Savings Account opened in Online Banking, or GICs and mutual funds arranged at a branch, is administered separately, and BMO's public pages we read don't describe where its statements and receipts appear. Look in BMO Online Banking first, since that's where the account was opened, and ask your branch if the receipt isn't there. One thing is the same whichever route you used: BMO notes that you can hold several RRSPs, but the contribution limit applies to all of them together.

How does the receipt tie to your RRSP deduction limit?

The receipt shows what you put in. The Canada Revenue Agency decides how much of it you can deduct.

Find your limit. CRA's page on where to find your RRSP deduction limit (read on 28 October 2026) lists the RRSP deduction limit statement on your latest notice of assessment or reassessment, your CRA online account, CRA's automated phone service, and Form T1028, which CRA may send if the limit changed since your last assessment.

How it's calculated. BMO's contribution limits page summarises it as unused room carried forward plus 18% of the prior year's earned income up to the annual maximum, reduced by any pension adjustment shown on your T4. It gives the 2025 maximum as $32,490, and BMO's RRSP page gives the 2026 figure as $33,810 or 18% of income on your 2025 return, whichever is less.

Which contributions count. BMO's limits page explains that contributions made from January 1 to December 31, or within the first 60 days of the following year, can be claimed for the current tax year. CRA's important dates page gives March 2, 2026 as the deadline for the 2025 tax year.

Claiming it. Per CRA's page on claiming RRSP contributions, you deduct on line 20800. With a paper return, attach the receipts. With NETFILE, keep them in case CRA asks; with EFILE, show them to your preparer and keep them. CRA's page on unused contributions says to complete Schedule 7 when you aren't deducting everything you contributed; the undeducted amount carries forward.

Going over. CRA's excess contributions page charges 1% per month on unused contributions more than $2,000 above your deduction limit, reported on Form T1-OVP within 90 days after the calendar year ends. Adding up every receipt against the limit on your notice of assessment is the simplest check.

Tracking contributions in a spreadsheet

If you contribute monthly or hold RRSPs at more than one institution, a small sheet saves you from over-contributing. Use one row per contribution with the date, amount, institution and which tax year you'll claim it for, then total it against the limit from your notice of assessment.

InvestorLine statements are PDFs. You can copy the transaction rows by hand, use Excel's Get Data from PDF, or try a converter. QuickBankConvert is designed for bank and credit card statements: it reads dated rows with amounts into CSV or Excel. A brokerage statement's holdings, book cost and market value columns aren't what it's built around, and we haven't tested BMO InvestorLine's layout, so check its output against the PDF. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download my BMO RRSP contribution receipt in the BMO Invest App?

Why do I have two BMO RRSP contribution receipts for one tax year?

Why didn't I get a BMO InvestorLine statement this month?

Where do I find my RRSP deduction limit?

On the RRSP deduction limit statement in your latest CRA notice of assessment or reassessment, in your CRA online account, through CRA's automated phone service, or on Form T1028 if CRA sends one.

Do I send my BMO RRSP receipt to CRA?

Only with a paper return, where CRA says to attach it. If you file with NETFILE or EFILE, keep the receipt in case CRA asks to see it.
