Fidelity Download Statement: Brokerage, IRA and 401(k)

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: Log in to Fidelity.com and open Documents; Fidelity's help pages describe it as the "Documents" tab on the Portfolio Summary screen. Find the statement for the period you need and select the download icon to save the PDF. Workplace 401(k) statements live in Fidelity NetBenefits, a separate login, and tax forms are under Tax Forms & Information.

Downloading a Fidelity statement starts in one place for most accounts: the Documents section of Fidelity.com, reached after you log in. Brokerage, IRA and cash management statements appear there by period, each with a download icon. The exceptions are employer plans such as a 401(k), which you reach through Fidelity NetBenefits, and tax forms, which follow their own release calendar from January to May.

What follows is based on Fidelity's public help pages, read on 26 October 2026. Fidelity's account screens are behind a login and change from time to time, so where its public pages don't spell out a step, this guide says so rather than guessing at a button name.

Which Fidelity site holds your statement?

Fidelity runs more than one front door, and the most common reason people "can't find" a statement is that they're signed in to the wrong one.

AccountWhere the statement livesNotes
Brokerage, IRA, Roth IRA, cash managementFidelity.com โ†’ DocumentsFidelity's site menu links Documents right beside Tax Forms & Information
Employer 401(k), 403(b) and similar workplace plansFidelity NetBenefitsSeparate sign-in; your employer's plan sets what's shown

If you have both a personal brokerage account and a 401(k) with your employer at Fidelity, expect to download from two places.

Downloading brokerage and IRA statements from Fidelity.com

Once you're logged in, open Documents from the accounts menu. Fidelity doesn't publish a separate public walkthrough for brokerage and IRA statements, but the most detailed public description of the Documents screen is on Fidelity's crypto statements help page, which gives these steps for Fidelity.com:

  1. On the Portfolio Summary screen, select the Documents tab.
  2. Select the Fidelity Crypto filter.
  3. Go to the statement for the relevant period and select the download icon to choose PDF or CSV. Fidelity notes CSV is available for April 2023 and later.

The same screen holds your other accounts' statements, so the pattern carries over: find the account and period, then download. For a brokerage account, a yearly or quarterly statement is often the most useful one to keep, because it summarises the period's activity in one document. A lender or financial adviser asking for "the last two statements" usually means the two most recent periodic statements, not a year's worth.

How do you get a Fidelity 401(k) statement as a PDF?

Workplace retirement plans are administered through Fidelity NetBenefits, which has its own sign-in page separate from Fidelity.com. That's where plan statements are kept. Fidelity's public pages don't walk through the NetBenefits menus, so the exact labels depend on what you see once you log in; look for a statements area for your plan and choose the period.

Two tips for 401(k) records:

  • If you're rolling a 401(k) into an IRA, download the final plan statements before the plan account closes. Former employers' plans sometimes move to a different administrator.
  • For a mortgage or loan application asking for retirement assets, the most recent quarterly statement is usually what's expected. Check with the requester.

Statements in the Fidelity app

The Fidelity Investments app also shows statements. For crypto, Fidelity's help page gives the app route: on the Home screen, select your Fidelity Crypto account, choose Statements, then pick the period and select the download icon to view the PDF. It adds that closed accounts are available on Fidelity.com only, which is a useful rule of thumb generally: if an old account isn't in the app, look on the website.

When do Fidelity tax forms post?

Tax documents aren't monthly statements, but people often search for both at once. Fidelity's Tax Forms & Information page publishes the schedule. The dates shown when we read it:

  • January 16: 1099-Q and 1099-R
  • January 24: Group 1 Form 1099s
  • February 7: Group 2
  • February 21: Group 3
  • March 11: Group 4
  • May 15: Form 5498 and 5498-SA

The grouping depends on what's in your account, which is why two people can get their 1099 weeks apart. Fidelity offers a personalised schedule after you log in. For a broader list of what to gather before filing, our year-end tax checklist covers bank and brokerage documents together.

Sharing statements with an accountant or family member

You don't have to download and email statements every quarter. Fidelity's Share statements and trade confirmations page explains how to add an "interested party", such as your accountant, a financial adviser or a trusted family member, who then receives digital copies without getting access to your account. The steps on that page:

  1. On the Share Documents page, add an interested party.
  2. Select one or more accounts to share documents from.
  3. Choose whether they receive statements, trade confirmations, or both.

Fidelity notes some conditions: it can't share documents with an entity, so you enrol an individual at the firm; the interested party needs a U.S. phone number and address; and sharing starts with your next statement. Removing someone takes 1 to 2 days, and they keep access to documents already shared.

If several people in your household have Fidelity accounts, Fidelity also offers a combined household statement that replaces individual statements with one consolidated document. Bear in mind that every owner in the household can then see the combined statement online.

Older statements and closed accounts

Fidelity's public pages don't state how many years of statements the Documents screen keeps, so the screen itself is the authority: if the period appears in the list, you can download it. Closed accounts are a special case. The crypto help page says closed accounts are available on Fidelity.com only, not in the app, and the same habit applies to any account you've closed or transferred out: look on the website first.

If you need a statement older than anything shown, use Fidelity's contact page rather than searching menus. In the meantime, a simple filing habit makes this rarer:

  • At each year end, download every account's annual or December statement and the year's tax forms into one folder.
  • Name files with account type, last four digits and period, for example "IRA-1234-2026-Q4.pdf".
  • Keep 401(k) statements from NetBenefits in the same folder, so all your retirement records sit together when you change jobs.

Getting statement data into a spreadsheet

Where Fidelity offers CSV, as it does for crypto statements from April 2023, take it. For other accounts the PDF may be all you have, and copying holdings and transactions by hand from a multi-page brokerage statement is slow and error-prone.

QuickBankConvert reads statement PDFs and outputs rows you can sort and total in Excel. It was built around bank and card statements, so a cash management account's transaction list is the closest fit; brokerage statements with holdings tables, cost basis and realised gains are a different shape, and you should check the rows against the PDF before relying on them. Our Fidelity statement to Excel guide covers that conversion, and the PDF to Excel page explains the output columns.

On Fidelity.com, statements sit in the Documents section, which is linked from the accounts menu next to Tax Forms & Information. Fidelity's crypto help page describes it as the Documents tab on the Portfolio Summary screen.

Why can't I find my 401(k) statement on Fidelity.com?

Workplace plans such as a 401(k) are usually run through Fidelity NetBenefits, which has its own login. If your employer's plan is at Fidelity, sign in to NetBenefits to see plan statements.
