BMO Bank Statement: Get Your BMO or BMO Harris PDF

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: A BMO bank statement is the monthly (or, for some savings accounts, periodic) PDF in the statements or documents area of BMO's online banking and mobile app. Former BMO Harris and Bank of the West customers now find their statements there too. Pick the account, choose the period, and download the PDF; ask BMO directly for anything older than the online list shows.

If you bank with BMO in the United States, your statements sit inside BMO's own online banking and app, whatever name the account had when you opened it. BMO Harris accounts became BMO accounts in 2023, and Bank of the West accounts moved over the same year. Open the account, find its statements or documents section, choose the month, and save the PDF.

A note on what we could and could not check

We tried to read BMO's own help pages on 26 October 2026 so we could quote its menu names exactly. The BMO website at bmo.com would not load for our tools that day, so this guide does not quote BMO button labels, retention periods or fees. Where a detail depends on BMO's current screens, we describe it in general terms and tell you how to confirm it yourself. That is more useful than a menu path copied from an old screenshot that no longer matches what you see.

BMO, BMO Harris, Bank of the West: which statement are you looking for?

Most confusion around BMO statements comes from the names, not the download.

You hadWhat it is nowWhere the statement lives
A BMO Harris checking or savings accountA BMO account (the Harris name was retired in 2023)BMO's US online banking and app
A Bank of the West accountConverted to BMO in 2023BMO's US online banking and app; pre-conversion statements may need a request
A BMO account in CanadaA separate Canadian banking relationshipBMO's Canadian online banking, a different login from the US
A BMO credit cardA card account with its own statement cycleThe card's own statement list, separate from checking

Two consequences follow. Old bookmarks and PDFs may still say BMO Harris; that is the same bank, so a lender who asks for "BMO statements" will accept them. And statements from before an account conversion are not always carried into the new archive. If the oldest month you can see online is the conversion month, that is why, and BMO customer service is the route to anything earlier.

How do you download a BMO statement PDF?

Without quoting labels we could not verify, the process on a computer looks like this:

  1. Sign in to BMO's online banking for your country (US customers use the US site).
  2. Open the account whose statement you need: checking, savings, or a card.
  3. Look for the statements or documents section for that account. On most bank sites it sits beside the transaction list or in an account services menu.
  4. Choose the statement period. The list shows how far back your online archive goes; the oldest entry is your limit.
  5. Open the PDF and save it. Rename it with the account and month so it sorts properly later.

In the BMO mobile app the flow is similar: open the account, find statements or documents, and use your phone's share option to save the PDF to files or email it to yourself. If you are converting or sending it on, a computer is easier because the file lands in a normal downloads folder.

What do BMO eStatements change?

"BMO e statement" searches usually mean paperless delivery: instead of a mailed copy, BMO notifies you that a new statement is available online. The statement itself is the same document.

Things worth checking when you switch, because we could not confirm them from BMO's pages:

  • Whether paper carries a fee on your account. Many banks charge for paper on some account types and waive it on others. Your account's fee schedule is the authority.
  • Which accounts the setting covers. Paperless settings are often per account, so a card or savings account may keep mailing paper after you switch checking.
  • Where tax forms go. Some banks deliver 1099-INT forms electronically when you opt into eStatements; others treat tax documents as a separate preference.

Why does a BMO savings statement look different?

People searching for a "BMO statement savings" or "BMO Harris statement savings" often notice that a savings account does not produce a statement every month. That is normal across US banks. Federal rules require a monthly statement for a month in which an electronic transfer happened, and at least a quarterly statement otherwise. A savings account that only earns interest may therefore show up as a quarterly statement, while one that receives a monthly automatic transfer shows up every month. The CFPB's bank account resources cover your rights on these accounts more broadly.

If you need a month that has no savings statement of its own, the next statement covers it, and the checking statement shows the matching transfer.

Statement balance on a BMO credit card

The "BMO statement balance" on a credit card is the balance at the end of the billing cycle, not your current balance. Purchases after the closing date show in the current balance but wait for the next statement. Paying the statement balance in full by the due date is what usually avoids interest on purchases, and our guide to how credit card interest is calculated shows the arithmetic when you do not.

Card statements are separate PDFs from checking statements. If you are reconciling business spending, download both and see converting credit card statements to Excel.

Turning a BMO statement into a spreadsheet

Most US banks offer a recent-activity download in CSV or a Quicken or QuickBooks format somewhere in online banking, and BMO may offer one for your account; check the transaction screen for a download or export option. That route only covers recent activity.

For statements already saved as PDFs, you can paste a short one into Excel, try Excel's Get Data from PDF feature, or use QuickBankConvert, which reads the BMO PDF and lists one row per transaction with date, description, signed amount and balance for you to check before downloading. A free account downloads CSV or Excel. QBO, QFX and Xero CSV need a paid plan, listed on pricing. You never hand over your BMO sign-in: you upload the PDF, our servers parse it, and the stored copy is deleted when you request it through the contact page.

The older article on converting a BMO Harris statement to CSV covers column cleanup in more detail.

When the statement you need is not online

  • Before your archive starts: call BMO or visit a branch and ask for copies by account and month. Ask about any research fee first.
  • From a closed account: the online list usually disappears with the account, so request copies from BMO.
  • From before a merger conversion: name the old bank (BMO Harris or Bank of the West) and the date range when you ask.

Our guide on how to get old bank statements has the request wording.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a BMO Harris statement the same as a BMO statement?

Yes. BMO Harris Bank adopted the BMO name in 2023, so older PDFs headed BMO Harris come from the same bank and are still valid records of your account.

Why does my BMO savings account only have a statement every few months?

US rules require a monthly statement only for months with an electronic transfer; otherwise banks must send one at least quarterly. An interest-only savings account can therefore show quarterly statements.

Can I get BMO statements from before my Bank of the West account converted?

They may not appear in BMO's online archive. Ask BMO customer service for copies, naming the old bank and the months you need.

Does BMO charge for paper statements?

It depends on your account. We could not confirm a fee from BMO's public pages, so check your account's fee schedule or ask a banker before switching back to paper.

What is the statement balance on my BMO credit card?

It is what you owed when the billing cycle closed. Your current balance also includes anything that posted after that date.
