HDFC Bank Statement: Download, Password and Loan SOA
Quick Answer: In HDFC Bank NetBanking, go to Account Statements, click Get Statement, choose the account and a preset or custom period, and click Download. In the HDFC Bank App, tap Statement on the home screen, then Get Statement. Either way you get a password-protected PDF; the password is your numeric Customer ID, the same number as your NetBanking user ID. Loan statements come from the separate MyLoans portal.
HDFC Bank account statements download as password-protected PDFs from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank App, for a preset period or a custom date range, and the password is your numeric Customer ID. Monthly statements can also be emailed. Credit card bills arrive by email, courier or online, and car, home and personal loan statements come from MyLoans, with two downloads per request.

How do you download an HDFC Bank statement?
HDFC Bank publishes step-by-step guides for both channels.
NetBanking, from HDFC Bank's guide to downloading your account statement via NetBanking (read on 26 October 2026):
- Log in to NetBanking.
- From the homepage, go to the Account Statements section.
- Click Get Statement.
- Select the account.
- Choose a predefined period or set a custom date range.
- Click Download.
HDFC Bank App, from its guide to downloading a statement on the app (read on 26 October 2026):
- Log in and tap Statement on the home screen.
- Tap Get Statement.
- Choose a preset period or a custom date range, then tap Download.
HDFC Bank says each statement shows the transaction date, a description (merchant, transfer reference or transaction type), whether the amount was a debit or credit, and the closing balance after each transaction. That running balance is useful later: it lets you check a spreadsheet conversion line by line.
What is the password for an HDFC Bank statement PDF?
HDFC Bank states this plainly: the downloaded statement is password protected, and the password is your numeric Customer ID. Its app guide adds that your Customer ID is your NetBanking numeric user ID. If you've forgotten it, HDFC Bank says you can retrieve it by logging in to NetBanking or contacting customer care.
A few practical points:
- The password is a number, so it's easy to mistype; if the PDF rejects it, check the Customer ID in NetBanking before trying again.
- When you send a statement to a lender or CA, they'll need the password too. Send it through a different channel from the PDF, or remove the password first and send an unlocked copy securely.
Our guide on password-protected bank statement PDFs explains how to remove the password from a copy in Adobe Acrobat or a browser's print-to-PDF.
How far back can you download?
The app guide's FAQ says you can set a custom date range "so you can pull statements going back as far as your account history allows". HDFC Bank doesn't name a fixed cutoff on that page, so if a very old period doesn't load, ask at your branch or through customer care.
On whether a downloaded PDF is accepted as proof, HDFC Bank's FAQ says a soft-copy PDF is accepted as identity or address proof by most lenders, banks, embassies and government bodies, but that some institutions still require a printed, bank-stamped copy. Check with whoever asked before you visit a branch. Our article on bank statements for visa applications covers what embassies usually want.
Monthly statements by email
HDFC Bank's article on accessing statements by email (read on 26 October 2026) says savings account holders can receive monthly statements on their registered email, and can sign up through internet or mobile banking or at a branch. The same article recommends redacting your account number and balance when you have to share a statement for a dispute, which is sound advice whatever bank you use.
Credit card statements and billing dates
HDFC Bank's guide to checking your credit card bill (read on 26 October 2026) lists three ways a card statement reaches you: a physical statement by courier to your correspondence address, an email statement as a PDF attachment, and an online statement in NetBanking.
What to look for on the bill:
| Section | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Transactions | Date, merchant and amount; refunds and payments are marked Cr |
| Statement Date | The day the bill was generated |
| Payment Due Date | The last day to pay at least the minimum amount due |
| Dues | Total dues and minimum amount due |
| Limits | Credit limit, available credit, cash limit |
| Account summary | Payments, spending and any outstanding balance |
| Reward points | Points earned, total and expiring |
The statement date defines the billing cycle. HDFC Bank's explainer on unbilled transactions gives an example: if your statement is generated on the 5th, a purchase on 2 June appears on the 5 June bill, while one on 6 June is "unbilled" and goes onto the July bill. Both reduce your available limit straight away. To see unbilled spending in the app, tap Cards, choose the card, then View All on the summary page.
When converting a card statement, watch the Cr marker: it's the only thing distinguishing a refund from a purchase, and a converter or spreadsheet formula has to read it correctly.
Car, home and personal loan statements
Loan statements don't come from the savings account screens. HDFC Bank's MyLoans Statement of Account page (read on 26 October 2026) sets out the process:
- Open MyLoans and enter your registered mobile number and the CAPTCHA.
- Enter the OTP sent to that mobile.
- Select the loan account.
- Select your email ID, city and branch from the dropdowns.
- Go to Service Requests โ Loan Statements/Letters.
- Click Download for the Statement of Account.
- Submit the declaration. A Service Request number is generated, and the PDF lands in your downloads folder.
Two limits catch people out. Each statement can be downloaded only twice, and the Statement of Account, Interest Certificate and Repayment Schedule can be downloaded only between 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM. If you've used both downloads, HDFC Bank says you can log in again and raise a new request; there's no limit on requests. For a home loan, the Interest Certificate from the same menu is usually what you need for tax deductions, not the full statement.
Mini statements and narration codes
HDFC Bank's explainer on mini statements (read on 26 October 2026) says a mini statement typically shows your last five transactions, and that HDFC Bank account holders can get one through ATMs, internet and mobile banking, and email. It's a quick check, not a substitute for a statement.
People also ask what short codes in the description column mean, such as ATW or CIN. The HDFC Bank pages we read on 26 October 2026 don't publish a list of narration codes, so rather than guess, open the transaction in NetBanking for its full details, or ask customer care with the date and amount.
Converting an HDFC Bank statement to Excel
The PDF needs its password before most tools can read it. QuickBankConvert asks for the password on upload, so you can enter your Customer ID there, and returns one row per transaction with date, description, category, signed amount and balance. It handles Indian statements as well as others, though we haven't specifically tested HDFC Bank's layout, so compare the final balance. CSV and Excel downloads come with a free account; see pricing for more. Excel's Get Data from PDF also works on an unlocked copy. For format-specific tips, see PDF to CSV.
