Santander Bounce Back Loan Statement: Where to Find It

8 min readOctober 29, 2026

Quick Answer: Santander does not post a Bounce Back Loan statement through the branch. Log on to Online Business Banking: the loan sits under 'Business Borrowing' as an 'Unsecured Business Loan', and opening it shows payments, interest and the amount outstanding. Letters and the BBLS annual statement arrive as e-Documents in the left-hand menu. If you have no log-on, call 0330 123 9860 to register.

A Santander Bounce Back Loan statement lives in Online Business Banking, not in the post. The loan appears as an 'Unsecured Business Loan' under 'Business Borrowing', the detail screen shows payments, interest and the balance outstanding, and Santander sends an annual statement plus any notices as e-Documents. Other lenders follow the same pattern: the lender, not the government, holds your records.

What was the Bounce Back Loan Scheme?

The British Business Bank's Bounce Back Loan Scheme page sets out the basics. The scheme was introduced in May 2020 for small businesses hit by COVID-19 and closed to new applications and top-ups on 31 March 2021. Accredited lenders offered six-year term loans from £2,000 up to 25% of turnover, capped at £50,000. The government gave the lender a 100% guarantee over capital and interest, but the borrower always remained fully liable for the debt.

The detail that matters most when you want paperwork: the British Business Bank describes BBLS as a fully delegated scheme. It did not lend to businesses directly, all communication runs between lender and borrower, and it says it cannot handle matters relating to the lending. So a statement, a settlement figure or a dispute about the balance always goes to your lender. Writing to the British Business Bank will not produce one.

At Santander the loan carried a 2.5% fixed interest rate for its whole life, the government covered the first 12 months of interest, and no repayments were due in that first year, according to Santander's repayment page. Santander's representative example is a £25,000 loan over 72 months with a first monthly repayment of £469.75 and a total amount repayable of £27,215.81, a total that includes the Business Interruption Payment. That last point explains why a statement's interest figures can look lower than 2.5% suggests for the early period.

Where do you find a Santander Bounce Back Loan statement?

Santander's Bounce Back Loan management page describes the route. In Online Business Banking:

  1. Log on and look at the 'Business Borrowing' section of the home screen.
  2. Find the entry named 'Unsecured Business Loan' that shows your business name. Every loan, the BBL included, uses that name on the home screen.
  3. Click into it. The second screen shows the product name 'Bounce Back Loan' with payments, interest and the amount outstanding.
  4. For letters, go to 'e-Documents' in the left-hand menu. Santander emails you when something new arrives there.

If you also hold an ordinary Unsecured Business Loan, the two look identical on the home screen. Santander suggests renaming them with the 'Add, remove or rename an account' tab at the top of the 'Business Borrowings' category, which saves you from pulling the wrong balance into your accounts.

The loan's own sort code and account number are on that detail screen too, and Santander says they also appear on your BBLS annual statement. You need them to make an overpayment.

What does the BBLS annual statement show, and what else counts as a record?

Santander commits to giving every BBL borrower an annual statement, along with information on missed payments, any action it plans to take before taking it, and where to find free independent advice. In practice you will usually be working from three kinds of record:

RecordWhere it comes fromWhat it is good for
BBLS annual statemente-DocumentsYear-end balance, loan sort code and account number
Loan detail screenBusiness Borrowing → the 'Unsecured Business Loan' entryToday's balance, payments, interest
Pay As You Grow confirmatione-Documents, within 2 working days of choosing an optionNew repayment amounts and term
Settlement figureLoan detail screenExact payoff amount, valid only on the day you settle
Business current account statementYour normal statementsThe dated Direct Debits that actually left the business

The current account statement is often overlooked. The loan record tells you what the lender applied; the current account tells you what you paid and when. When the two disagree, that gap is what you raise with the lender.

How do you get access if you never registered for Online Business Banking?

Santander lists separate routes depending on which account the loan was opened alongside:

  • Business current account holders: call 0330 123 9860 to register. Log-on details arrive by post within 4 working days. If you already have details but forgot them, reset them online.
  • Personal current account holders: log on to personal Online Banking from a laptop or desktop, check that your address and the phone number used for one-time passcodes are correct, click 'Chat with us' and type 'Register OBB' exactly. Only the named BBL account holder can request credentials.
  • Cater Allen customers: call 0330 123 9860.
  • cahoot customers: Santander may call you to arrange log-on details; otherwise call 0330 678 2811.

Log-on details are personal. If a bookkeeper or employee needs to see the business transactions, Santander says they must have their own separate log-on rather than sharing yours.

Pay As You Grow and how it changes your statement

Both the British Business Bank and Santander describe the same three Pay As You Grow (PAYG) options:

  • Extend the term from six years to 10 years at the same 2.5% fixed rate.
  • Pay interest only for six months, up to three times during the loan.
  • Take a repayment holiday of up to six months, once during the loan.

You choose them in Online Business Banking with the red 'Pay as you Grow options' button under the loan details. Santander warns that once you click 'confirm' you cannot change the choice, and that the option takes effect from the next repayment only if you choose it more than 5 working days before the Direct Debit is due. Choosing two options means submitting each separately and waiting 2 working days between them, so Santander recommends allowing at least two weeks.

Each option shows up differently in the records. During an interest-only period the balance does not fall, so a flat outstanding figure across six months is expected, not an error. A repayment holiday lengthens the loan in line with the months skipped. A term extension lowers the payment but stretches the end date. Santander states that using PAYG will not affect your credit rating but may affect future creditworthiness assessments, because a lender looking at new borrowing counts the BBL in your total debt.

Using the balance for accounts, a loan application or a dispute

Year-end accounts. Your accountant needs the balance outstanding at the year-end date and the interest charged in the year. The annual statement gives the balance; if your year-end does not match its date, read the balance from the detail screen on the right day or work it out from the payment history. Ask your accountant how to split the balance between amounts due within a year and later, since that depends on your PAYG choices.

A new loan application. Lenders reviewing an application usually ask for business bank statements and look at existing debt, as covered in our guide to what lenders read in business bank statements. Having the BBL balance and the matching Direct Debits ready avoids a round of questions.

A balance you think is wrong. Line up every BBL Direct Debit from your business current account against the lender's payment history. If your statements arrive as PDFs, converting them to a spreadsheet makes this a filter rather than a page-by-page read: QuickBankConvert reads bank statement PDFs into rows with date, description and signed amount, and the PDF to Excel page explains the output. A free account downloads CSV or Excel for a few statements a month; see pricing for larger volumes. The file is uploaded and processed on our servers, so read the privacy policy first. For plain statement retrieval at UK banks, our current account statement guide covers the usual routes.

Overpaying or settling the loan

Santander charges no early repayment fee and says you pay no interest at all if you clear the full amount before your 12-month repayment holiday ends. To settle, note the loan sort code, account number and settlement figure from the detail screen, open 'Payments and Transfers' and pay the loan like any other payee. The settlement figure is only valid on the day you settle, payments can take up to 2 days to show, and a fully repaid loan shows £0 until the account is closed. Partial overpayments reduce future monthly payments, not the term.

Settle carefully: each business is allowed only one BBL, so once it is repaid in full you cannot take a new one or a top-up.

When repayments become difficult

Santander lists 0800 085 1167 for businesses that have already taken independent debt advice and still need to talk, 0800 404 6185 if you have entered or are about to enter insolvency, and 0330 123 9860 for PAYG questions. It also notes that BBLS loans lack the usual protections of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If you try to dissolve a company and receive an objection, the British Business Bank says it may be due to a Bounce Back Loan and that you must resolve it with your lender.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Santander post a paper Bounce Back Loan statement?

Santander's pages describe the BBLS annual statement and other notices arriving as e-Documents in Online Business Banking, with an email telling you when one is ready. If you cannot log on, call 0330 123 9860 to register or ask about your records.

Why can't I see 'Bounce Back Loan' on my Santander home screen?

Santander lists every loan, including a BBL, as 'Unsecured Business Loan' on the home screen. Click into it and the next screen shows the product name 'Bounce Back Loan'.

Can the British Business Bank send me my BBL balance?

No. The British Business Bank says BBLS was fully delegated and it did not lend directly, so statements, balances and disputes go to your lender.

How do I get a settlement figure for my Santander BBL?

Open the loan's 'Unsecured Business Loan' entry in Online Business Banking. The settlement figure shown there is only valid on the day you settle, so pay it the same day.

Will Pay As You Grow show on my loan statement?

Yes, through the balance and payments. Santander sends an e-Document confirming new repayment details within 2 working days of choosing an option, and the balance stays flat during an interest-only period.
