Bank of the West Bank Statement: Getting It From BMO Now
Quick Answer: Bank of the West no longer issues statements under its own name. BMO bought it in February 2023 and moved its customer accounts onto BMO's systems in September 2023, so statements for a former Bank of the West account, mortgage included, now come from BMO Digital Banking or from BMO customer support. The old bankofthewest.com address no longer loads.
A Bank of the West statement now comes from BMO. BMO completed its purchase of Bank of the West on 1 February 2023 and converted the customer accounts to BMO's platforms in September 2023. Sign in to BMO Digital Banking for statements since then. For older months, or for anything you cannot see online, contact BMO and name the account.
We checked BMO's public pages on 27 October 2026. They confirm the acquisition, the conversion and BMO's export options. They do not publish a statement menu path, how many years of statements BMO Digital Banking shows, or how pre-conversion history is handled. Those gaps are marked below rather than filled with guesses.

The timeline that explains where your statements are
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 February 2023 | BMO completes its acquisition of Bank of the West from BNP Paribas, adding nearly 1.8 million customers | BMO news release, 1 Feb 2023 |
| February to early September 2023 | Customers keep using their existing Bank of the West branches, website and app until the systems conversion | Same release |
| September 2023 | BMO completes the conversion of Bank of the West customer accounts and systems to BMO operating platforms | BMO fourth quarter 2023 results |
| Today | bankofthewest.com does not resolve when we tried it on 27 October 2026; accounts are served as BMO accounts | Our own check |
The practical split is September 2023. Statements produced after the conversion are BMO statements. Statements from before it were produced by Bank of the West and are what most people have trouble finding.
Where do I find Bank of the West statements now?
For months after the September 2023 conversion
Sign in to BMO Digital Banking, online or in the BMO app, and look in your account's statements or documents area. BMO's online banking page describes accessing "your bank statements online in one central location" and switching some or all of your accounts to paperless statements from your account preferences. BMO also lists "Paperless Statement availability" among the security alerts it sends, so if you are enrolled you will be told when a new statement is ready.
If you never set up BMO Digital Banking after the conversion, you will need to enroll before you can see any of this. Your old Bank of the West username will not get you in at an address that no longer exists.
For BMO's statement screens in more detail, including how BMO Harris customers find theirs, see our separate BMO bank statement guide. Former Bank of the West and former BMO Harris customers now use the same service.
For months before the conversion
BMO's public pages do not say whether Bank of the West statements from before September 2023 appear in BMO Digital Banking. Checking your own account takes a minute and costs nothing:
- Sign in and open the converted account.
- Look at the earliest statement offered.
- If the month you need is earlier than that, it is a request for BMO support.
Before you contact BMO, search your own records. Many customers downloaded or were emailed PDFs from Bank of the West in 2022 and 2023, and copies may already sit in your email, your downloads folder, or your tax preparer's files.
Asking BMO for older or missing statements
BMO's contact page is the starting point for US customers. When you reach someone, a precise request gets a faster answer:
- Say plainly that the account was a Bank of the West account converted to BMO in 2023.
- Give the current BMO account number and, if you have it, the old Bank of the West account number.
- List the exact statement months you need, for example "January to August 2023".
- Say what the statements are for if it affects format, such as a mortgage application that needs complete statements with every page.
- Ask whether a fee applies and how the copies will be delivered.
We could not find a published fee for statement copies on the BMO pages we read, so do not assume either way.
If the account was closed before the conversion, the request is the same, but expect it to take longer. Banks keep records for years after an account closes, and our guide to statements for a closed bank account explains what you can reasonably ask for.
What about a Bank of the West mortgage statement?
Mortgage statements follow the same timeline as deposit accounts in BMO's announcements: the conversion covered Bank of the West customer accounts and systems. BMO's public mortgage pages, however, focus on new loans and calculators and do not explain where converted mortgage statements or year-end interest documents are shown. So:
- Check BMO Digital Banking first, since BMO's own FAQ explains that your periodic loan statement shows how payments were applied, including principal, interest and escrow.
- If your mortgage does not appear there, or the statement you need predates September 2023, ask BMO support and name the property and loan number.
- If your loan was sold or transferred to another servicer at any point, the servicer named on your most recent payment notice is the one that holds the statements.
Exporting transactions instead of statements
When you need to analyse spending rather than submit a document, an export is often easier than a PDF. BMO's Digital Banking FAQ says account data can be exported in QuickBooks, Quicken or CSV format, one account at a time. Its steps:
- Select the account with the transactions you want.
- Select Filter.
- Choose the filter criteria, which can include transaction type and date range.
- Select Apply.
- Select Export and choose the format.
That covers activity inside BMO's systems. For the Bank of the West era, if all you have are old PDF statements, the rows have to come out of the PDFs. QuickBankConvert takes those PDF files and produces a spreadsheet with one row per transaction and the running balance, so 2022 and 2023 Bank of the West months can sit in the same workbook as a BMO CSV export. You upload the PDFs; it does not need a BMO login.
A short guide to matching old and new
People rebuilding a year that spans the conversion (for taxes, a loan file or a business ledger) tend to hit the same three snags:
- Two account numbers. Keep a note mapping the Bank of the West number to the BMO number so a reviewer can follow the history.
- A gap or overlap in September 2023. Check that the last Bank of the West closing balance equals the first BMO opening balance. If it does not, one statement is missing.
- Different description formats. The same merchant may be described differently before and after. If you categorize spending, map both versions to the same category.
For old periods with no PDF at all, our guide to getting old bank statements lists other places your history may be recorded.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Bank of the West still exist?
Not as a separate bank. BMO completed its acquisition of Bank of the West on 1 February 2023 and converted the customer accounts and systems to BMO platforms in September 2023.
Can I log in to bankofthewest.com for old statements?
No. The address did not resolve when we checked on 27 October 2026. Former Bank of the West customers use BMO Digital Banking or contact BMO for older statements.
How do I get Bank of the West statements from before September 2023?
Check the earliest statement shown for your converted account in BMO Digital Banking. If the month you need is not there, ask BMO support, giving both the old and new account numbers and the exact months.
Where is my Bank of the West mortgage statement?
Mortgage accounts were part of the conversion to BMO, so look in BMO Digital Banking first. If it is not there, contact BMO with the loan number, or the current servicer if the loan was transferred.
Can I export BMO transactions to Excel?
Yes. BMO's Digital Banking FAQ says you can filter an account's transactions and export them in QuickBooks, Quicken or CSV format, one account at a time.
