Starling Bank Statement: Monthly PDFs, True Copy and CSV

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: In the Starling app, open the account menu at the top right, tap Statements and documents, then Statement history, select one or more months and tap Download statement, choosing PDF or large-print PDF. Each statement carries a "True Copy" stamp with a verification ID. For custom dates or a CSV, use the Go to feed exports link on the same screen, which covers up to the last 12 months.

Starling gives you two different things that both get called a "statement". Monthly statements are fixed, calendar-month PDFs with a True Copy stamp that a lender can verify. Feed exports are transaction summaries for any dates in the last 12 months, available as PDF or CSV, but they are not verifiable statements. Pick the one that matches who will read it.

How do you download a Starling statement?

Starling's help centre article on certified statements and its companion answer on receiving statements (both read on 26 October 2026) give the same in-app route for personal, joint, sole trader and business accounts:

  1. Open your account menu in the top right of the screen.
  2. Tap Statements and documents.
  3. Tap Statement history.
  4. Select the month or months you want.
  5. Tap Download statement.
  6. Choose PDF or Large print PDF.

If you tick more than one month, Starling bundles the statements together into a compressed ZIP file. Unzip it before you attach the PDFs to an application form; many upload portals reject ZIP files outright.

Starling says the previous month's statement becomes available in the app between the 4th and the 10th of each month. If you need October's statement on 2 November, it won't be there yet, and a feed export (below) is the stopgap.

Want paper? Starling's answer is to download the statement and print it yourself.

What changed in August 2026?

Starling's help centre notes that from August 2026 it changed how statements are provided in the app, so that every Starling product gets a consistent statement and each month has a verifiable record. Two practical effects follow:

  • Monthly statements now cover full calendar months only. You can no longer set your own start and end dates on a full statement.
  • Every statement has a True Copy stamp at the top.

If you remember picking custom dates for a statement before, that option now lives in feed exports, and the output there is a summary rather than a statement.

Is a Starling statement accepted as a certified copy?

This is the most distinctive part of Starling's setup. According to its help page, each monthly statement is automatically given a verifiable statement identification number when it is generated. That number is printed in the True Copy stamp at the top of each page, and it is specific to that one month's statement.

A third party such as another bank, an estate agent or a mortgage broker can check that the document is genuine by contacting Starling with the ID from the stamp; Starling lists 020 7930 4450 for that purpose. So when someone asks you for a "certified" or "stamped" statement, the downloaded PDF is what Starling intends you to send. You don't need a branch stamp, which is just as well, since Starling has no branches.

What the stamp doesn't cover is a transaction summary from feed exports. Starling says plainly that those exports are not verifiable statements. If a lender wants evidence, send the monthly PDFs. Our guide to bank statements for visa applications has more on what embassies usually ask to see.

The CSV in feed exports is the quickest way to get Starling transactions into Excel or Google Sheets, and for anything inside the last year it is cleaner than converting a PDF. Starling's own online banking, which runs in a desktop browser after you approve the login from the app, also lists exporting statements among the things you can do there, along with spending insights you can filter by date.

How far back can you go?

Starling describes its monthly statements as a permanent record of your account history, so older months stay in Statement history while the account is open. The tighter window is on feed exports: the custom date range only reaches dates in the last 12 months.

That gives you a simple rule. For anything older than a year, download the monthly statement PDFs. If you then need those older months as rows in a spreadsheet, convert the PDFs; see the section on converting below.

Can you get your history after closing a Starling account?

Yes, and Starling's transaction history policy (read on 26 October 2026) spells out the process.

When the account closes, Starling emails your full transaction history as bank statements, free of charge, within 10 working days. The email has an Access your document link that opens a web page asking for a password, and Starling sends that password by text message. Both the link and the password are active for only 60 days, so download the files rather than relying on the email. Your email address must be verified in the app's Settings before the account closes, or the history can't be sent. Personal current account holders can choose in the app, while closing, to skip the history or take a shorter date range; joint and business customers ask for that when they contact Starling to close.

After the account has closed, you can ask for a copy of your transaction history up to 5 years after closure, also free. Starling first confirms your identity and email address, then emails the history within 7 working days, again with a text-message password and the same 60-day window.

Missing that 60-day window is the most common way people lose their Starling history, so put a reminder in your calendar the day the email arrives. Our article on closed bank account statements compares how other banks handle the same request.

Other Starling documents you might be looking for

The Statements and documents menu holds more than monthly statements. Starling's help centre lists:

  • Fees statements, an annual statement of fees paid on the account.
  • Interest statements, issued at the end of each year for tax purposes, so the current year's won't be available until it ends.
  • Separate statement routes for Cash ISAs, Fixed Savers and business loans, each covered by its own help article.

If an accountant asks for "your interest certificate", it is the interest statement they mean, not the monthly PDF.

Converting Starling PDFs into a spreadsheet

Start with the feed export CSV whenever the dates fall inside the last 12 months; it comes straight from Starling's data. For older months, for closed-account history you received as statements, or for a client who sent you PDFs, you'll need to extract the transaction table.

Excel's Get Data from PDF and Adobe Acrobat's export both work on clean, bank-generated PDFs, though statement tables often split across pages awkwardly. QuickBankConvert is built for bank statements specifically: upload the PDF and you get one row per transaction with date, description, category, signed amount and running balance where the statement prints one. It reads statement PDFs whatever country the bank is in, but we haven't specifically tested Starling's 2026 layout, so check the opening and closing balances against the PDF. Free accounts can download CSV and Excel; pricing has the allowances for bigger backlogs. Our PDF to Excel page explains what the output looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a Starling statement for custom dates?

Not as a full statement; those cover calendar months only. For custom dates within the last 12 months, use Go to feed exports on the Statement history screen.

Can I download a Starling statement as CSV?

The CSV option is in feed exports, which produce a transaction summary rather than a verifiable statement. Monthly statements download as PDF or large-print PDF.

How can someone check my Starling statement is genuine?

Each statement has a True Copy stamp with a unique verification ID. The recipient can contact Starling on the number given in its help centre to confirm it.

When is my monthly Starling statement available?

Starling says the previous month's statement appears in the app between the 4th and 10th of the month.

How long after closing can I request my Starling history?

Up to 5 years after the account closes, free of charge. It is emailed within 7 working days once Starling has confirmed your identity.
