RBC Bank Statement: eStatements, Fees and BR TO BR Codes
Quick Answer: In RBC Online Banking, select Statements/Documents at the top right of the Accounts Summary page, then use Search eDocuments on the View eDocuments tab to download a statement as a PDF. In the RBC Mobile app, tap More, then Statements under Services, and pick the account. RBC archives eStatements for 7 years, but only for accounts you've switched to electronic statements.
RBC Royal Bank stores up to seven years of eStatements in Online Banking and the RBC Mobile app, covering bank accounts, credit cards, loans, mortgages and tax documents, as long as each account is switched to electronic delivery. The app shows your last six statements by default. Paper options cost extra, mortgage annual statements are browser-only, and transactions download into spreadsheet software.

How do you download an RBC statement?
RBC's tutorial Access Your Account Statement (read on 26 October 2026) describes three channels.
RBC Online Banking
- From the Accounts Summary page, select Statements/Documents at the top right.
- On the Account Documents page, follow the instructions to download your bank, credit card, investment, loan, mortgage or tax documents.
- Change the statement period with the dropdown. The Tax Documents tab on the left holds tax slips.
Business Banking clients start from the Account Balances page instead, then select Statements/Documents.
RBC Mobile app
- Tap More in the navigation bar (on Android, RBC's eStatements page calls it Menu).
- Under Services, tap Statements.
- Select the account. Your last 6 statements appear automatically; use the dropdown for older periods.
RBC ATM: select Account Information, then Mini Statement, and choose the account.
If a statement you expect isn't there, RBC says to call 1-800-769-2511.
Why is my RBC statement missing from the app?
Usually because that account still gets paper statements. RBC's eStatements page (read on 26 October 2026) says only accounts you've switched to electronic can be viewed. To switch in the app: More (or Menu) โ Settings โ Statements, then use the toggle beside Switch all to electronic or choose per account, select Apply Changes, read and accept the terms, and select I Agree.
Two more details from RBC's page:
- Each account has its own eStatement. RBC doesn't produce a consolidated statement across accounts.
- The 7-year archive also includes cheque images, which you can view free for the last 7 years.
RBC's FAQ on older transactions adds that switching to eDocuments is how you see up to seven years of history in Online Banking, since the regular transaction view covers a shorter span.
What do RBC paper statements cost?
RBC publishes a statement fee table on its eStatements page. Depending on your account, some of these may be free or discounted:
| Statement option | RBC's listed fee |
|---|---|
| Monthly paper statement without cheque images | $3.00 per month |
| Monthly paper statement with cheque images | $3.50 per month |
| Interim statement ordered through the branch, produced and mailed | $0.75 |
| ATM full statement | $1.50 each |
| ATM mini statement | Free |
| In-branch statement picked up in person | $5.00 |
| Braille statements | Varies by account type |
RBC's footnotes say the $3.00 monthly paper fee applies to RBC Signature No Limit Banking, RBC Advantage Banking, RBC Day to Day Savings and RBC Enhanced Savings, and doesn't apply to seniors or to some fee-waiver and VIP arrangements. The $3.50 option has no charge for accounts with the Seniors Rebate and for VIP Operating and VIP Companion accounts. If you just need one statement for an application, downloading the eStatement is free and quicker than any paper route.
Where is my RBC mortgage annual statement?
This one trips people up because the app can't show it. RBC's FAQ says mortgage annual statements are not available in the RBC Mobile app; sign in to royalbank.com in a browser instead. Timing depends on format:
- Digital statements are available in January.
- Paper statements are mailed in late January or early February.
- Closing the mortgage? The annual statement comes as part of the closure documents.
For a duplicate of a past mortgage statement, RBC's FAQ says to call 1-800-769-2511. To avoid that next time, switch mortgage documents to electronic in the Manage Documents tab under Statements/Documents; RBC says mortgage documents are then archived for 7 years, starting from October 2019.
RBC Visa and other credit card statements
RBC credit cards, including its Visa cards, are listed among the document types on the Account Documents page, so a Visa statement downloads through the same Statements/Documents route as a chequing account, for the same 7 years, once the card is on electronic statements. In the app, pick the card from the account list under Statements. Remember that a card statement's signs run opposite to a bank account's: purchases increase the balance owing, payments reduce it.
What does BR TO BR mean on an RBC statement?
RBC's FAQ on transaction codes defines the abbreviations you'll see in Online Banking. The common ones:
- BR to BR: Branch to Branch, a transaction done manually by a branch or processing centre.
- Sundry Credit: often an income deposit such as payroll, Canada Pension Plan or Old Age Security; the description usually becomes more detailed the next business day.
- WD: a withdrawal.
- PTB: Personal Touch Banking, meaning an ATM transaction; PTB WD is an ATM withdrawal.
- IDP: Interac Direct Payment, a debit card purchase at a store or restaurant; a short merchant description often appears after a business day.
- WWW: done through Online Banking.
- TRF DDA: an Online Banking transfer from this account to another RBC chequing or savings account.
- WWW3RD PTY DEP: another RBC client deposited money into this account through Online Banking.
- Item Returned Unpaid: a deposited item, usually a cheque, that couldn't be collected.
For a code not on the list, RBC says to call the same 1-800 number. When you put RBC transactions into a spreadsheet, these prefixes are useful for filtering, for example all IDP lines to total card spending.
Can you download RBC transactions into Excel?
Yes. RBC's FAQ on downloading transactions into spreadsheet software says: sign in to Online Banking, click Account Services in the Account Management box on the right, click Download Transactions in the left-hand menu, and follow the on-screen instructions. RBC's FAQ doesn't list the file formats on offer, so check the options on that screen. For recent periods this download beats converting a PDF, because it comes straight from RBC's records.
RBC Direct Investing statements
RBC Direct Investing runs its own site, and we couldn't find its statement steps on its public help pages on 26 October 2026. RBC's Account Documents page lists investment documents among what it holds, but if your Direct Investing statements aren't there, contact RBC Direct Investing rather than the bank's general line.
Converting older RBC PDFs
For statements beyond what Download Transactions reaches, or PDFs a client has sent, extract the table with Excel's Get Data from PDF or a converter. QuickBankConvert turns statement PDFs into rows with date, description, category, signed amount and balance, and it reads Canadian statements as well as others, though we haven't specifically tested RBC's layout. Check the closing balance after converting. See pricing for plan limits and PDF to CSV for the output.
