PayPal Mastercard Statement: Where to Find and Read It
Quick Answer: A PayPal Mastercard statement comes from Synchrony Bank, the bank that issues both the PayPal Cashback Mastercard and the PayPal Credit Card, not from your PayPal account statements. For the PayPal Credit Card, PayPal's help page says to click the card's tile on the PayPal home page, then Statements, pick the month and click Get billing statement to download the PDF.
The PayPal Mastercard is a credit card issued by Synchrony Bank, so its monthly statement is a bank billing statement that is separate from the account statements PayPal produces for your PayPal balance. You reach it through your PayPal account, where the card appears as its own tile, and download it month by month as a PDF.

Which "PayPal Mastercard" do you have?
Three different PayPal products carry the Mastercard logo, and each keeps its records in a different place. Work out which one you have before you look for a statement.
| Card | What it is | Issued by | Where its transactions are recorded |
|---|---|---|---|
| PayPal Cashback Mastercard | Rewards credit card, cash back on purchases | Synchrony Bank | Monthly credit card billing statement |
| PayPal Credit Card | Credit card with special financing on larger purchases | Synchrony Bank | Monthly credit card billing statement |
| PayPal Debit Card | Debit card that spends your PayPal balance | Not a credit product | PayPal account activity and account statements |
The issuer details come from PayPal's own pages, read on 26 October 2026. The Cashback Mastercard page states that the card is issued by Synchrony Bank pursuant to a license by Mastercard International Incorporated. PayPal's help article comparing the PayPal Credit Card and the PayPal Credit digital line says both are issued by Synchrony Bank. The digital line works only at PayPal checkout, so it has no plastic card, but it does have a billing statement.
If your card has your name and a credit limit, it is one of the first two. If spending it reduces your PayPal balance, it is the debit card.
How do you download a PayPal Credit Card statement?
PayPal's help article on viewing and downloading statements and reports gives these steps for a PayPal Credit card statement (read on 26 October 2026):
- Sign in to PayPal and click the PayPal Credit card tile from the home page.
- Click Statements.
- Select the Month from the statement listing.
- Click Get billing statement. The statement downloads as a PDF.
Repeat for each month you need. If you are gathering a full year, name the files by closing date as you save them so they sort in order.
Where is the PayPal Cashback Mastercard statement?
PayPal's Cashback Mastercard page says you need an active PayPal account in good standing to apply for and manage the card, and that rewards are redeemed through your PayPal account. The same help article that documents PayPal Credit statements does not give separate steps for the Cashback Mastercard, so this guide does not invent menu names for it. The practical route:
- Sign in to PayPal and look for the Cashback Mastercard as its own tile or entry among your cards, then open it and look for statements.
- If you cannot find a statements option, call the customer service number on the back of the card. That line belongs to the card account and can tell you where statements are kept and send copies of older ones.
Either way, the statement you get is a Synchrony billing statement with the standard credit card layout described below.
And the PayPal Debit Card?
Because the debit card draws on your PayPal balance, its purchases appear in the PayPal account itself. PayPal's help article describes monthly account statements at paypal.com/reports/accountStatements: click Request next to the month, then Download when it is ready. Those statements, and PayPal's activity downloads, are covered in the PayPal bank statement guide.
How to read the PayPal Mastercard statement
Because Synchrony issues the card, the statement follows the same federal rules as any US credit card statement. Regulation Z, section 1026.7, requires a summary of balances, the payment due date and minimum payment, a late payment warning, the transactions, fees and interest each grouped with year-to-date totals, the APRs with the balances they applied to, and a minimum payment warning. The generic walkthrough in how to read a credit card statement applies line for line. What is specific to these cards:
Promotional financing balances. The PayPal Credit Card is marketed with "no interest if paid in full in 6 months" on purchases of $149 or more. PayPal's own wording explains the catch: interest will be charged to your account from the purchase date if the balance is not paid in full within 6 months. On the statement, look for:
- each promotional purchase listed with its own balance and expiry date;
- an amount of accrued interest that will be charged if that balance is not cleared in time;
- the payment needed before the expiry date to avoid it.
Minimum payments alone may not clear a promotional balance before its deadline, so compare the promotional balance and its date to what you plan to pay.
Cash back. On the Cashback Mastercard, rewards may be summarised on the statement, while PayPal says redemption happens through your PayPal account. If the figures look off, compare the statement's rewards summary with what your PayPal account shows as available.
Merchant descriptors. Purchases made through PayPal checkout often show the merchant name with a PayPal prefix. That helps when matching a charge to an order in your PayPal activity.
What to check on each PayPal Mastercard statement
A short routine catches most problems before they cost anything:
- Match payments. Confirm last month's payment appears as a credit and the previous balance was cleared as you expected.
- Scan PayPal checkout lines. Each one should match an order in your PayPal activity; a line with no matching order is worth investigating.
- Check promotional expiry dates. Put the earliest one in your calendar with the balance that must be paid before it.
- Read the interest charged line. If you pay in full every month and see interest, look for a promotional balance that expired or a cash advance.
- Look for a notice of changes. Rate or fee changes are announced on the statement or in a separate letter before they apply.
If a charge is wrong, the 60-day window for a written billing error notice runs from the statement that first showed it; the steps are in the guide to disputing a credit card charge.
Getting the transactions into a spreadsheet
The card account does not share the PayPal balance account's CSV reports, so if you want a year of card transactions in Excel, the monthly PDFs are the most complete source. Some options:
- Copy from the PDF into Excel. Fine for one month; error-prone for twelve.
- Excel's Get Data from PDF can pull tables out of a statement, though multi-page transaction lists often split into several tables.
- A statement converter. QuickBankConvert reads the card's PDF statement and gives you one row per transaction (date, description, category, signed amount), with the statement period and closing balance shown above the preview. The credit card statement to Excel page describes the output; a free account downloads CSV and Excel.
Password-protected PDFs are supported if you have the password. For the PayPal balance side, see converting a PayPal statement to CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who issues the PayPal Mastercard?
Synchrony Bank. PayPal's own pages say both the PayPal Cashback Mastercard and the PayPal Credit Card are issued by Synchrony Bank under a license from Mastercard.
Why is my PayPal Mastercard not on my PayPal account statement?
The PayPal account statement covers your PayPal balance activity. The credit card is a separate account with the issuing bank, and it has its own monthly billing statement.
How do I download a PayPal Credit Card statement as a PDF?
PayPal's help page says to click the PayPal Credit card tile on the home page, click Statements, select the month, then click Get billing statement, which downloads the PDF.
Is the PayPal Debit Mastercard statement the same as a credit card statement?
No. The debit card spends your PayPal balance, so its purchases show in your PayPal account activity and monthly PayPal account statements rather than on a credit card bill.
Can I export PayPal Mastercard transactions to Excel?
Download the PDF billing statements and convert them, or copy recent activity from the card's transaction list. The PayPal account's own CSV reports cover PayPal balance activity, not the credit card account.
