Relay Bank Statement: Download PDF, CSV or OFX

6 min readOctober 26, 2026

Quick Answer: Relay statements live under Settings > Account Statements in the web app. Tick the months you want, click Export X Statements, and choose PDF, CSV or OFX; you can also combine several statements into one PDF. In the mobile app, open the account, tap the three dots and choose Download statements (PDF or CSV only).

Relay is a business banking platform, so its statement page is built for owners who hand files to a bookkeeper. Each checking or savings account inside Relay gets its own monthly statement, and the web app exports any of them as a PDF, a CSV or an OFX file. That makes Relay one of the few banks where you may not need a converter at all.

Where are Relay statements kept?

Relay's help article Downloading and emailing bank statements (read on 26 October 2026) names two routes to the same page on the web:

  • Settings > Account Statements, which lists every statement for the business.
  • Accounts, then a sub-account, then the three dots at the top right, then View Statements, which opens the list for that account.

The page has one row per statement, showing the month, which sub-account it belongs to and the actions for that row. Because Relay lets a business run many checking accounts side by side (its FAQ mentions up to 20 accounts, two of them savings), the list fills up quickly. Four filters above the table help: Account(s), Card(s), Account Type (checking or savings) and Date Range. Older statements sit on later pages, so check the pagination or raise Results per page if a month seems to be missing.

How do you export a Relay statement?

On the web

  1. Sign in to Relay in a browser.
  2. Open Settings, then Account Statements.
  3. Stay on the Open tab for active accounts, or switch to All to include closed ones.
  4. Tick each statement you want. For a single statement you can click the download icon on its row instead.
  5. Click Export X Statements at the top right (the number is how many you ticked).
  6. Pick PDF, CSV or OFX.
  7. Optionally tick Combine into one file to merge the selection into one PDF.
  8. Click Export; the file saves to your Downloads folder.

In the mobile app

Go to the Accounts tab, select the account, tap the three vertical dots and choose Download statements. You can pick several months or years at once, then choose PDF or CSV. Relay's help page says OFX is a web-only option, as is emailing.

PDF, CSV or OFX: which one should you pick?

Relay's own guidance matches the formats to their jobs, and it is worth following:

FormatGood forLimits
PDFKeeping records, sending to a lender, landlord or accountant who wants "a statement"Not editable as rows
CSVOpening transactions in Excel, Google Sheets or NumbersNot accepted as proof of banking by most third parties
OFXImporting into accounting software that reads OFXWeb only; not in a combined export

The combined export is PDF only. If you need twelve months of CSV for a spreadsheet, export the twelve statements without ticking Combine into one file and you get a separate CSV per statement, which you can stack in a sheet.

When the destination is QuickBooks or Xero, check whether you need a statement file at all. Relay's advisor permissions article lists managing connected accounting and payroll tools (QuickBooks, Xero, Gusto) as part of the Manager role, which tells you the platform connects to them directly. A live connection is usually better than importing files month by month. Statement exports earn their place for the gaps: months before the connection was set up, a second set of books, or a client whose accountant works from files. Our QuickBooks import guide and Xero guide cover the file route.

Can you email a statement to your bookkeeper?

Yes, from the web, one statement at a time. In Settings > Account Statements, open the three dots on the statement's row, choose Email Statement, check the account and period shown at the top of the window, type the address, pick PDF, CSV or OFX, and confirm. The recipient receives a download link that expires four hours after it is sent, so warn them, or resend if they miss it.

For a recurring arrangement, Relay says statements can be forwarded to document tools such as Hubdoc and Dext from Settings > Integrations, so new statements arrive there when they are ready. If you would rather give your accountant direct access, Relay supports invited advisors with their own logins; every advisor role, including Read Only, can view balances and statements.

Closed accounts, old months and what a statement leaves out

Three details from Relay's help center catch people out:

  • Closed sub-accounts are under the All tab. Statements for a closed checking or savings account stay downloadable while the Relay business itself is open, marked with a red Closed label.
  • Closing the whole business account ends access. Relay's account closure article tells you to download every statement you want first, because after closure you cannot log back in to retrieve them, and a closed account cannot be reopened. Export the full history as PDF (for records) and CSV (for analysis) before you ask Customer Experience to close it.
  • Statements show only the last four digits of the account number. When a lender or vendor needs the full number, Relay points you to a bank verification letter, sometimes sent together with the statement.

Relay also offers a custom report from the same page (Generate Custom Report), which pulls transactions for a date range you choose rather than a calendar month. That suits a fiscal year that does not start in January, or a single project.

The Transactions page under each account is not an official statement, Relay notes. It is useful for a quick check, and it shows a running balance beside settled transactions but not beside pending ones, so a figure on screen can differ from the statement's closing balance until items settle.

Relay's FAQ says deposits are held through its partner bank, Thread Bank, Member FDIC. You still request statements from Relay, not from Thread Bank.

When converting a Relay PDF makes sense

Since Relay hands you CSV and OFX directly, conversion is only worth it in a few cases:

  • Someone sent you the PDF, not the export. An accountant onboarding a client often gets a folder of PDF statements. Asking the client for the CSV is the cleanest fix; if that is slow, the PDFs can be turned into rows with our converter.
  • You need QBO or QIF rather than OFX. Some desktop software prefers one of those. Converting the Relay PDF produces QBO or QIF on a paid plan; see pricing.
  • You kept combined PDFs. A merged PDF covering several sub-accounts converts into one list. Split the rows by account afterwards using the statement headings.

QuickBankConvert reads the file you upload; nothing logs in to Relay. The file is sent over HTTPS, parsed on our servers, and a copy is stored, which you can ask us to delete through the contact page. Check the opening and closing balance shown above the preview against the PDF before you download.

For bookkeeping, a statement is also a record you may need to keep. The IRS page on recordkeeping for small businesses lists bank statements among the supporting documents for business transactions, which is a good reason to save the PDFs even if you work from the CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a Relay statement as a CSV?

Yes. In Settings > Account Statements on the web, select the statements, click Export, and choose CSV. The mobile app also offers CSV through the account's three-dot menu and Download statements.

Does Relay export OFX for accounting software?

Yes, but only on the web. OFX is offered when you export or email a single statement; a combined export of several statements is PDF only.

How do I get statements for a closed Relay sub-account?

Open Settings > Account Statements and switch from the Open tab to All. Statements for closed checking and savings accounts appear with a red Closed label and download like any other.

Can I get Relay statements after closing my business account?

No. Relay says you lose access permanently once the closure is complete, so download every statement you need before contacting Customer Experience to close.

Why doesn't my Relay statement show my full account number?

Relay statements show only the last four digits. For a document with the full account and routing numbers, download a bank verification letter.
