PenFed Credit Union Bank Statement: Download and Export

7 min readOctober 27, 2026

Quick Answer: Log in to PenFed Online, open Other Actions, choose View Statements, pick the statement type, then use the download icon in the document viewer. PenFed says online banking holds statements up to seven years old and the PenFed Mobile app up to three years. For anything you cannot find there, PenFed's help center tells you to contact the credit union.

PenFed Credit Union keeps your monthly statements inside PenFed Online and the PenFed Mobile app. On the website you can reach statements up to seven years back; the app shows up to three years. Checking, savings and loans share one consolidated statement, while each credit card has its own. Older copies need a request to PenFed.

Every menu name and limit in this guide comes from PenFed's own help center, read on 27 October 2026. PenFed edits those articles from time to time (the statements article showed a last-modified date of 8 October 2026), so if a button has moved, the How to Access Statements article is the version to trust.

What kinds of PenFed statement are there?

Before you go looking, know which document you need, because PenFed files them separately.

StatementWhat it coversWhere PenFed puts it
Consolidated statementYour checking accounts, savings accounts and loans togetherUnder any checking, savings or loan account
Credit card statementOne PenFed credit cardUnder that card, selected by card number and year
Mortgage statementYour PenFed mortgageEligible for e-statements, per PenFed's enrollment article
Tax statementsYear-end forms such as interest reportingA separate tax documents area (PenFed has its own "How to Access Tax Statements" article)

The consolidated statement is the one most people mean when they ask for a "bank statement" from PenFed, since it is the record of your deposit accounts. PenFed's help center also notes that your member number sits in the upper-right corner of the first page of a consolidated statement, which is handy when a form asks for it.

How do I download a PenFed statement on the website?

PenFed's instructions for PenFed Online run like this:

  1. Log in to PenFed Online.
  2. Click the Other Actions tab and choose View Statements from the drop-down.
  3. Use the drop-down fields to pick the statement type.
  4. Click the paper icon next to the statement you want. This opens it and gives you a download icon.
  5. Use the download or print icon in the upper-right corner of the document viewer to save the PDF or print it.

If you choose the Credit Card statement type, PenFed asks you to pick the card number and the year as well. You can download a card statement straight from that screen or click View first.

Save the file with a name you will recognize later, such as penfed-consolidated-2026-09.pdf. PenFed's generic file names are fine for one statement and a nuisance when you have twenty.

Getting statements in the PenFed Mobile app

The app route is shorter but reaches back less far: three years instead of seven.

  1. Log in to PenFed Mobile.
  2. Tap a checking account, savings account or loan to reach your consolidated statements, or tap a credit card to reach that card's statements.
  3. Tap View Statements. If you do not see it, tap More Actions first, then View Statements.
  4. Tap the statement you want.

Phones are fine for checking a balance on a past statement. When a landlord, lender or accountant wants a stack of PDFs, the website is usually less fiddly, because you can save each file into a folder in one sitting.

Turning on e-statements and ending paper

PenFed calls this enrolling in e-messages and e-statements. Once you are enrolled, PenFed emails you each time a new statement or message is ready in PenFed Online.

On the website, PenFed says you will usually see a pop-up asking you to enroll the first time you log in. If you missed it:

  • Click Other Actions, then View Statements (on a narrow browser window it may sit under More > Other Actions > View Statements).
  • Open the Delivery Preferences tab and click Open Delivery Preferences.
  • Choose paper or electronic delivery for each statement, document and alert, then click Save.

In the app, tap the profile icon in the top-right corner, then Go Paperless. You can pick GO Paperless Everything or choose items one at a time, then tick the boxes acknowledging PenFed's paperless disclosures and the Electronic Tax Disclosure, and tap Save.

Two details from PenFed's notes are worth knowing. E-statements are offered for consolidated, credit card and mortgage statements. And enrolling consolidated and credit card statements removes the paper statement fee. On 27 October 2026 PenFed's service fee page listed $2.00 for a mailed consolidated statement (also waived with a $500 monthly direct deposit into PenFed checking or a $500 minimum daily checking balance) and $2.00 for a mailed credit card statement, which is waived only for electronic delivery. Fees change, so check that page before you decide.

Can I export PenFed transactions to Excel or Quicken?

Yes, and for many jobs this beats a PDF. PenFed's "Downloading Transaction History" article describes the steps:

  1. Log in to PenFed Online and click the name of the account.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Download Transactions.
  3. Pick a Transaction Type: All, Credits (money in), Debits (money out) or Checks.
  4. Pick a Download Type: Comma Separated Value (CSV), Quicken Interchange Format (QIF) or Web Connect (QFX).
  5. Choose All dates or By Date Range, then click Download Transactions.

Repeat for each account. A CSV opens directly in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets; QFX and QIF are for money-management programs, and our Quicken integration page explains the difference between them.

The same help article explains why some budgeting apps struggle with PenFed: in November 2023 PenFed stopped allowing aggregators to reach PenFed Online through screen-scraping, and points members to these file downloads instead. If an app that used to sync your PenFed account stopped updating, that is the likely reason, and a regular CSV or QFX download is PenFed's suggested workaround.

When you only have the PDF

PenFed's article does not say how far back the All date option in the transaction download reaches. Statements, on the other hand, go back seven years on the website. So there are times when the PDF is the only record of an old period: a tax amendment, a divorce or estate file, a business expense audit.

You have a few choices for getting those PDF rows into a spreadsheet:

  • Retype them. Fine for one short statement, slow and error-prone beyond that.
  • Excel's Get Data from PDF (Windows versions of Microsoft 365) can pull tables from some PDFs; results depend on how the statement is laid out.
  • A statement converter. QuickBankConvert reads a statement PDF that you upload and turns each transaction into a row with date, description, amount and running balance, ready for CSV or Excel. You download the PDF from PenFed first; it never asks for your PenFed login. A free account covers a few statements a month, and the pricing page lists the larger plans.

Whichever route you pick, compare the opening balance, closing balance and totals on the PDF with your spreadsheet before you rely on it. The general walkthrough in converting credit union statements to Excel covers the clean-up steps that apply to PenFed's layout as much as any other.

Statements older than seven years, or ones you cannot find

PenFed's statements article ends with a short instruction: if you cannot find the statement you are looking for, contact PenFed. Its contact article lists three ways to do that:

  • Phone: general member service at 1-800-247-5626 (US toll-free), Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM ET and Saturday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET, closed Sunday.
  • Contact Us form in the help center, where you pick a topic, describe the request and choose an email reply or a scheduled call.
  • Chat, through the chat icon in the lower-right corner of the help center, starting with the chatbot.

When you ask, give the account (consolidated, a specific card, or the mortgage), the exact months you need and how you want to receive them. PenFed's fee page listed a $3.00 charge per statement copy, $3.00 per mailed credit card statement reprint and account research at $15.00 per hour when we read it, so a request for statements you could have downloaded yourself costs money. Ask for a quote if the request is large. If the account has been closed, our guide to getting statements for a closed account explains what to expect from most institutions, and the wider guide to getting old bank statements covers retention rules and alternatives such as using tax records.

Quick checklist before you hand statements to someone

  • Every month in the requested range is present, with no gaps between closing and opening balances.
  • You sent the right document type: consolidated for deposit accounts, the card statement for card activity.
  • File names show the account and month.
  • If a lender wants "official" statements, send the PDFs from PenFed Online rather than a spreadsheet export; exports are for your own analysis.
