Fifth Third Bank Statement: Online PDFs and Paperless
Quick Answer: Sign in to Fifth Third online banking at 53.com or in the Fifth Third mobile app; periodic statements are available electronically for the accounts you can see there, and you save them as PDFs. Paperless delivery needs a separate enrollment. For a paper copy, print the electronic statement or call Fifth Third at 800-972-3030, and ask about any fee first.
Fifth Third Bank, which writes its name as 5/3 and lives at 53.com, makes statements available electronically for every account you access through its online or mobile banking. You download the PDF yourself. Whether a paper copy also arrives depends on your delivery settings, and the rules for those settings sit in Fifth Third's Digital Services User Agreement rather than a help article.

Fifth Third, 5/3 and 53.com: one bank, several names
Searches for a "5 3 bank statement" and a "Fifth Third bank statement" lead to the same place. The Cincinnati-based bank uses the 5/3 mark in its logo and the 53.com domain for its website. The legal name on the agreement we read is Fifth Third Bank, National Association.
That matters for one practical reason: statement emails are a favorite disguise for phishing. Fifth Third's agreement says it may send an electronic alert, such as an email or text, when a document is ready to view. Treat that alert as a reminder only. Go to 53.com by typing it, or open the app you installed, rather than following a link in the message.
What Fifth Third's agreement says about online statements
Fifth Third does not seem to publish a standalone "how to download statements" page that we could read, so the most reliable source is its Digital Services User Agreement & Electronic Communication Disclosures, the e-Sign consent you accept to use online banking (we read the version posted on 53.com on 26 October 2026). The relevant points:
- Statements are online for your accounts. "Periodic statements are available electronically for the accounts accessed via online/mobile banking."
- Paperless is opt-in. "Enrollment is required to receive paperless online/mobile statements instead of mailed statements."
- Alerts come with it. "Once enrolled, customers are automatically enrolled in alerts regarding statement availability."
- Statements are not the only document. The electronic documents covered include account agreements, disclosures, periodic statement information, tax documents, privacy policies and notices of account changes.
- You need a PDF reader. The agreement lists software that can open portable document format files, plus local storage "to retain and/or print electronic documents", among the requirements.
In short, the PDF is there whether or not you have gone paperless. Enrollment only decides whether the mailed copy stops.
How do you turn paperless statements on or off at Fifth Third?
The agreement gives three routes for changing document delivery preferences:
- Log in to online banking or the mobile app and change the setting there.
- Call 800-972-3030.
- Stop in any Fifth Third Banking Center.
A few details from the same document are easy to miss:
- Joint accounts. Each owner can give an email address for electronic documents, but "only one account owner's consent is required." One co-owner can switch the whole account to paperless.
- A bad email address switches you back. If an electronic notice bounces, Fifth Third treats that as withdrawing consent and starts sending paper "within a reasonable period of time (generally within 45 days)" until you give a valid address. You can update your email or mobile number in the Settings area of online or mobile banking.
- Declining the agreement resets everything. If you decline its terms, accounts set to view documents only online are reset and documents are mailed.
Downloading a Fifth Third statement PDF
The agreement confirms statements are in online and mobile banking but does not name the menus, and the help pages that would have shown them did not load for us. So here is the general shape rather than invented button names:
- Sign in at 53.com or in the Fifth Third mobile app.
- Choose the checking, savings or credit card account.
- Open the account's statements or documents area and select the month.
- Open the PDF and save it. On a phone, use the share option to put it in Files or send it to your computer.
If you cannot find the statement list, Fifth Third's agreement points to help inside the app through its Ask Us button or the Feedback and Support link, and customer service is at 800-972-3030. For a stack of months, a computer is less fiddly: each PDF downloads straight to a folder you can rename by month.
How far back can you get Fifth Third statements?
We could not find a published figure for how many months of statements Fifth Third keeps online, and the agreement's change list mentions only "updated periodic statements availability" without a number. The quickest way to know is to open the statement list and look at the oldest month offered.
If you need something older, the agreement's paper-copy section is the path: you can "contact a Customer Service Professional online via our 'Contact Us' link or call us toll free, at 800-972-3030." It also warns that Fifth Third "may charge a fee for the production and delivery of documents in paper form," with details in your account agreement. Ask what it costs before you order a year of copies. Our guide on getting old bank statements has a script for that call.
Why do the 60-day and 30-day deadlines matter?
Your statement is also the clock for disputes. Fifth Third's agreement says the bank "must hear from you within sixty (60) calendar days after the FIRST statement on which the problem appeared was sent to you" for errors on electronic transfers on personal accounts. Mobile deposit problems are tighter: notify the bank within 30 days after the related statement is made available, or the statement "is deemed correct."
That is a good reason not to let online statements pile up unread once you go paperless. A quick monthly check is easier when the activity is in rows you can sort:
| Check | What you are looking for |
|---|---|
| Ending balance against your own records | Missing or doubled items |
| Debits sorted largest first | Charges you do not recognize |
| Deposits filtered by "mobile" | Mobile deposits credited for the right amount |
| Same merchant, same amount, same day | Duplicates |
Quicken, QuickBooks or the PDF?
Fifth Third keeps a dedicated Quicken and QuickBooks FAQ page under Customer Service, which is the place to check which connection or download methods it supports today. Its answers load dynamically and we could not read them, so we cannot tell you which file types Fifth Third offers. Use that route when you want ongoing activity flowing into Quicken or QuickBooks. QuickBooks users can also try the bank connection inside QuickBooks itself.
The PDF is the better choice when the document itself is the point: a rental application, a mortgage file or a tax preparer asking for statements. It is also what you fall back on for months that a software download no longer reaches.
Turning a Fifth Third PDF into a spreadsheet
Excel's Get Data from PDF can find the transaction tables in a simple statement, then you tidy up repeated headers in Power Query. Adobe Acrobat can export a PDF to Excel too. Both work best on PDFs downloaded from online banking rather than scans.
A dedicated converter saves the cleanup. With QuickBankConvert, you upload the Fifth Third PDF you saved, and the preview shows one row per transaction (date, description, category, and an amount with withdrawals negative) with the running balance where Fifth Third prints it, plus the statement period and the opening and closing balances to compare. No Fifth Third sign-in is requested at any point. Your file travels to our servers for parsing and a copy is retained; you can ask for it to be erased via the contact page. CSV and Excel come with a free account, while QBO and QFX need a paid plan from the pricing page. For layout quirks specific to this bank, read converting a Fifth Third statement to Excel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 5/3 statement the same as a Fifth Third statement?
Yes. 5/3 is how Fifth Third Bank writes its name, and 53.com is its website. Statements from either name come from the same bank.
Do I have to go paperless to download Fifth Third statements?
No. Fifth Third says periodic statements are available electronically for accounts you access in online or mobile banking. Paperless enrollment only stops the mailed copy and turns on statement alerts.
Why did Fifth Third start mailing my statements again?
Its agreement says that if an electronic notice goes to an invalid email address, it treats that as withdrawing consent and resumes paper, generally within 45 days. Update your email in Settings and re-enroll.
Does Fifth Third charge for paper statement copies?
It may. The Digital Services User Agreement says Fifth Third may charge a fee for producing and delivering paper documents and refers you to your account agreement, so ask the amount when you call 800-972-3030.
Can one joint owner switch a Fifth Third account to paperless?
Yes. Each owner can give an email address, but Fifth Third requires only one account owner’s consent to deliver documents electronically.
