America First Credit Union Bank Statement (AFCU)
Quick Answer: America First Credit Union (AFCU) statements are free online statements in digital banking and the America First mobile app. In online banking use the Statements and Tax Information button; in the app use Statements & Taxes. New statements are available on the fifth of each month, and AFCU says you can review and print up to seven years of them.
An America First Credit Union bank statement is a monthly PDF you open from digital banking or the mobile app, under Statements and Tax Information on the web or Statements & Taxes in the app. AFCU makes each month's statement available on the fifth and keeps up to seven years online, long enough to cover most tax record questions without visiting a branch.

What does AFCU say about its online statements?
AFCU's Online Statements page, read on 26 October 2026, gives a short list of facts worth knowing before you go looking:
- Cost: online statements are free.
- Timing: they are "available on the fifth of every month".
- History: you can "review and print up to 7 years" of your financial data.
- Software: the page's footnote says Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed for online statements, which tells you the files are PDFs.
- Where: digital banking on a computer and the free mobile app.
Seven years is generous. Plenty of banks show 18 or 24 months online and make you order anything older; at AFCU, most members will never need an archive request.
How do you find your statement in digital banking?
AFCU's tax-form FAQ names the two entry points, and they are labelled differently on each platform:
| Platform | Where to tap or click | Also holds |
|---|---|---|
| Online banking (computer) | Statements and Tax Information button | 1098 and 1099 forms |
| Mobile banking (app) | Statements & Taxes option | 1098 and 1099 forms |
From there, pick the account and month and open the PDF. Save it with a name you will recognise later, for instance afcu-checking-2026-09.pdf, because downloaded statements often share a generic filename.
AFCU has also been rolling out upgraded digital banking. Its digital banking resources page says the new version brings transaction views, secure messages with document uploading and card management, with all features on both mobile and desktop. If a button has moved after an update, the Statements area is the first place to check.
If the statement will not open
AFCU's footnote about Adobe Acrobat Reader is the clue when a statement shows up blank or as a download that does nothing. Some phone browsers and built-in PDF viewers can struggle with bank documents. Try three things in order: download the file instead of previewing it, open the saved file in Acrobat Reader, and if you are on the app, repeat the download from digital banking on a computer. A file that opens in Reader will also convert or print properly.
When should you expect this month's statement?
Because statements post on the fifth, a few practical rules follow:
- If you need last month's statement for an application, wait until after the fifth and download the PDF that day.
- If you reconcile by calendar month, the statement for a given month is ready a few days into the next one, so set your month-end close for after the fifth.
- If the fifth falls on a weekend or holiday and nothing appears, try again the next business day before calling. AFCU's page gives the fifth as the availability date and does not discuss weekends.
Can you still get paper statements from America First?
Yes, in two ways. AFCU's FAQ on paper statements gives the steps for switching your delivery back to paper in online or mobile banking:
- Select Settings.
- Go to Statement Preference.
- Select Paper Statements.
Paper starts with the following month. AFCU also says you can request individual paper statements at a branch at any time, which is useful when someone insists on a stamped or printed copy for a single month. The online statements page does not mention a paper statement fee; your account's fee schedule is where any charge would be listed.
Going the other way, the digital banking resources page lists "Cancel paper statements" among the account preferences you can change online.
Where are your AFCU 1099 and 1098 forms?
The same Statements and Tax Information button (online) or Statements & Taxes option (mobile) holds year-end tax forms. AFCU adds a threshold that explains a common "missing form" worry: Form 1099-INT (interest income) and Form 1099-R (IRA distributions) are only issued when aggregate amounts reported are $10 or more per taxpayer. If your savings earned $6 of interest last year, there is no 1099-INT to find. The interest still appears on your December statement, and the IRS still expects you to report it.
Is seven years of AFCU history enough?
For most personal tax purposes, yes. The IRS page How long should I keep records? gives three years as the normal period, six years if you under-report income by more than 25 percent, and seven years for a claim involving worthless securities or a bad debt deduction. AFCU's seven-year window lines up with the longest of those common cases.
Two reasons to keep your own copies anyway:
- The window rolls. A statement from seven years ago today will drop off soon, and if the account is closed you may lose online access altogether.
- The IRS clock starts when you file, not when the statement was issued, so a statement can be older than seven years and still matter for a late or amended return.
A once-a-year habit works: each January, download the previous year's twelve statements and the tax forms into one folder.
If you do need something older than AFCU shows, our guide on getting old bank statements explains how to word the request; a branch visit is the documented route for paper copies at AFCU.
Getting AFCU transactions into Excel or Google Sheets
AFCU's statement pages do not describe a CSV or Quicken export, so check the upgraded digital banking for a download option on the transaction list before assuming it is missing. If one exists, it is the quickest way to get recent activity into a spreadsheet.
For the statement PDFs themselves, especially when you want several years of them, conversion is the practical route:
- QuickBankConvert reads each AFCU statement and returns rows with date, description, category, a signed amount (money out is negative) and balance where the statement prints one. You upload only the PDF, not your digital banking login. A free account downloads Excel or CSV for three statements a month; a backlog of years fits better on a paid plan or the one-time pass on the pricing page.
- Google Sheets users can bring the CSV in directly; see PDF to Google Sheets.
Credit union statements often print share savings, checking and loans together. Our guide to converting credit union statements explains how to split those sections afterwards.
Before relying on the numbers, compare the closing balance on the last row with the statement and spot-check a few transactions. Your upload is stored on our servers; ask for deletion through the contact page if you want it removed.
